Is it possible for my partner to hear the heartbeat. Last night he put his ear on my tummy and reckons he could hear a fast beating sound, faster than the usual heartbeat and he could only hear it faint when all the other tummy noises would stop for a minute.

I wanna have  listen but my necks not long enough lol.

nope i dont think so. As right now they can probably just pick up babys heartbeat with a doppler machine.

My midwife told me that its not until around at least 12 weeks that they can hear it with a doppler, so I doubt it. Once I got a lot bigger my hubby and I were trying to hear it with a stethoscope and never could.

prob not, but i'd be careful about whether or not you tell him that. my hubby told me that when i was pregnant he found it hard to ghet excited as it was all about me, and difficult for him to share in a lot. myabe this is your hubby's way of sharing in the excitement, eveni f it is just his imagination.

I've read that at around 24 weeks, if you're in a quiet room and your partner has a listen, then he may just be able to hear it. can't wait for my 24 weeks! hehe. Huby feels like he's missing out big time because we still can't feel it from the outside of my tum.

I agree with Lizzle and Nikki - don't spoil the moment! But 12 weeks is early to even hear the heartbeat with a doppler, some women they can't hear it till closer to 14 weeks.
