Hi,
Just trying to organise a wedding on a tight budget and like the idea of a late evening wedding(just on dark) and then have drinks and nibbles afterwards. We like the idea of Cascade Fountain Gardens as it is all lit there at night. Has any one been there? Would it be nice? Does anyone else have ideas for an el cheapo wedding?

I can't help you with ideas for Tauranga. However when we got married I found it amazing who you know. An aquantance(sp??) from high school made our cake for cheap, 2 ladies Mum worked with took our photos and although they weren't pro the photos are wonderful, my 3rd form Maths teacher (who Mum worked with) and her husband ran the bar for us (yes, it was a bit strange). Alot of these people didn't want any payment at all so as a thanks we invited them to the lunch the day after at my parents and I put together a little gift basket for them
Have a think about who you know, your family knows etc as they may be able to help you out.
All the best and congrats!

We went to a wedding at cascade fountain gardens. The little grotto thing they have for weddings is great,..you walk down a winding path, and there is a little stream and stuff down there,..its surrounding by tall trees,..so nice. Not that baby friendly tho- not good buggy access down to there, as there are some steps also, and its a gravel path..and if u need to make a quick escape with a screaming baby during the ceremony,..well u cant! Its a long way back up the steep path, and in full view of everyone
We paid for our own drinks,...But $3 for a glass of Pams lemoanade from a 1.5L bottle that I know is less than $1 in the shops,...not good!

I've lived in the Mt my whole life and I don't know where that is! Someone please enlighten me!
Sorry, I got married 8.5 years ago and we got married at the Mt Surf club, and i think it's quite pricey now. It was $500 for the night back then, then caterers on top of that. I wouldn't have a clue as to how to have a wedding on a budget .
