Has anyone here has this done or know someone who has? Does anyone know the process of getting on the public waiting list?
I was at the chiros today and we talked about this. He's a fitness freak and we were discussing my exercise regime and I mentioned that I hated running he asked why and I said my boobs are too big, they bounce, it hurts etc.
He knew a couple of people (including his wife) who had had it done. The waiting list is apparently about 2-3yrs according to him and that he could help with my case because of my back issues and my boobs are well huge and don't help it thats for sure.
He knows I want to have another baby when we can try again but he thinks its smart to get the ball rolling now so to speak since the waiting list is so long and it would give me enough time to have another.
Makes sense to me but I don't really know much about it all and I'm a wuss when it comes to being cut!

I think you can get a referal from your GP to go on the list. I should of told you this when I was at your place. There is a marking thing they do to see if you qualify. A family friend has just seen the surgeon down at hutt hospital and she quailfies (she is bigger than you) but she has to lose weight first.
Also Ask Emz as she is going through the process.

A member in my family had a boob reduction and she paid $10k for it. She had enormous back problems and her boobs were way out of proportion for her tiny size 8 frame! She looks fantastic now and is so much more confident, she used to wear jumpers to hide her boobs all the time. I can't believe how minimal her scarring is, its amazing and very cleaver!
Sorry I'm not really answering your question, but just wanted to tell you a successful story!

I have 2 friends who got boob reductions and have never looked back, they did mind have huge boobs. They got some paid for and had to pay a little for it cause of the size and problems they caused.
I know one said she had no problems and was supprised how little pain she had from it. The other lost about 3 kgs from it and I think they took a bit of fat (lipo??) from her back so she had a little pain but still not really bad.
The scaring is a bit more than what you would get from an boob jobbie as they lift etc... so movinne g the nipple normally is invovled - I have seen both my friends and its like an upside down 'T' on the under part of the boob.
I would love to get one done - a nice c or b cup. But could never spend that amount of money just on myself and doubt I would get on the waiting list.

I'm going to get my boobs "fixed up" once I have this baby and get my weight back down again, over the past five years I've gone from a DD cup to busting out of a G cup but I just can't bring myself to buy an H cup . My Southern Cross policy will cover it as long as I can get a doctor to agree that my boobs aren't helping with my back probs.
The annoying thing is that both the back problems AND the giant boobs are all from having babies!

I'll say! Even BEFORE I had kids my boobs pointed south! I remember my m/w trying to show me how to position Maya to b/feed by holding her up against herself and I was like, "it's ok for you lady, your boobs don't point down!"

It is a major operation, there are of course associated risks of bleeding, infection etc and risks of having a general anethestic. Other than that, recover time is at least 6 weeks. It would be 6 weeks without doing any lifting, holding babies, hanging out washing etc etc. You may qualify for homehelp if done private, Im not sure, that may only be if its ACC.
Im not sure how big the actual cut is, I dont think its that big,...much worse for implants.

Mine are the same heading south from a young age. I don't fit the criteria they have for the public list so may have to save for private.

My sister's friend had one when she was relatively young, about 16 or something, and she happily flashes them around. Her scars aren't visible coz they are under her breasts but her nipples look weird coz they had to reposition them.

My MIL is getting it done, they apparenlty have a certain number of allocations in different health sectors, and breast cancer patients take priority. You have to have a certain number of 'points' to get on the public list and have 3 referrals from differnt medical professionals (I think, could be 2). Not sure what else from there though

I had one about 10 years ago and am soooo glad that i did it. I went from a 12F to a 12C
The recovery time is about a week off work and then no heavy lifting for a couple of weeks after that. The pain isnt too bad - boobs just feel really heavy and i vomitted from the anaesethic for about 5 days and fractured my ribs from this.
The scarring isnt to bad and now they have such good techniques that minimises the scarring. As for weird looking nipples, just make sure you get a good surgeon - i dont think mine look weird
I would definately wait until you have finished having babies as it can hinder breast feeding, it can reduce your supply.
If you want any more info ask away.

So they dont necessarily have to move your nipples? I thought there was no way you could bf cos they remove the nipple, and reattach it higher up?

I've just done a bit of reading on a few websites. It said it can hinder. Sometimes they completely remove the nipple and put it up higher sometimes they leave it attached to some stuff and move it up. I guess it would depend which it was to if you could give BF a go.
I'm deinitely not doing this until we have finished our family but because of my fear of being cut (which is more just cutting of the skin, don't care less about what goes on after that) I'll need to give my head lots and lots of time to work up to it hehe

They dont necessarily have to move your nipple, but i think it would look slightly strange if they didnt. As kebakat says they dont have to remove the nipple to move it, just make an incision and detach some of the nipple and slide it up. My surgeon told me i might have probs BF but i did it for 8 weeks with formula topups.

My friend who had the reduction had a terrible time Breast feeding and part reason (but not whole) that she got post natal depression. I don't want to put a damper on the reduction thing but I think if you can wait till after having baby if you have your heart set on Bfing then do so.

My SIL had one done a few years ago, I'm pretty sure through medical insurance. She has so much more confidence now and loves her new smaller boobies. I haven't seen any noticable scarring and from what she says it's not too bad.
It did hurt her a bit, she found it a bit hard, but I'd say this would be the same as any other surgery. Her nipples are fine and they gave her good hope for breastfeeding in the future (she's young, doesn't have any kids).

I want to get one too. I will be talking with my doctor the next time I see her but I doubt she'll be able to make any sort of call until I finish BFing so she can see what size they go back to (mind you they were a 10E to start with). I would also like to finish having kids first but I figure I should get on the waiting list soon as in 3 years time I hopefully will have had my second.
Stacey definitely ask Emz - I think she's going in soon.

WoW i didnt realise how big bra sizes went.. (this is coming from someone who was excited to be pregnant to JUST make it to a C cup. My heart does go out to all you gal's who do have big boobs that causes problems, I have a mate in that boat too, wanting a boob job but has to meet the criteria for the waiting list.
Also, we do seem to be self concious about stretch marks- funny, but annoying at the same time. Wear them with pride...lol.
