Im about to pull my hair out

I am having a real hard time finding a position that is comfy to go to sleep in, I will lie on my side pack pillows round me EVERYTHING and it takes me soooo long to get to sleep. My baby just kicks and kicks and wiggles as soon as I want to sleep, gah!
I end up in near tears cos I just cant get comfy, poor DF was rubbing my back and stuff last night cos I was so stressed by it. In the end I got into a spot and he stroked my face and head(soo cute ) until I drifted off, but he cant do that everynight the poor guy!

What are some ways to help you sleep? What did you do? And is there anything I do do.eat/drink that will make baby more settled when I go to sleep?

TIA

I had similar difficulties & can completely sympathise! Now I can't sleep due to night feeding. I don't think I've sleep through the night for over a year now! I've found taking Rescue Remedy Sleep quite good. Never could find a comfy position though. If you're able to, putting your feet up during the day and getting every opportunity to rest is helpful. Sorry, but can't think of anything else!

Sheza, unfortunately no solutions but lots of understanding. I know it's sooo tiring when you're exhausted and all you wanna do is sleep but you can't.

Sounds like you have a very active wee boy there!

Hey something I did see in Baby Factory (after Harry was born, typical) was a pregnancy wedge to go under your bump. It was only $10 or something. I tried to make to with 6 pillows cos the preggie pillows were so darn expensive, but it never quite cut the mustard...

Im going through the same thing...

the only nights i seem to sleep, are in the weekends. mainly because i am so active in the weekends, and im not stressed about getting to sleep at a reasonable hour.
i get so upset and stressed in the weeknights, because i know i need to get up early for work in the morning.

The 2 things that I found helped were:
- sleeping on the couch, I just seemed to be more comfy
- tri pillow. part of it between my legs and part under my belly and then cuddling a normal pillow by my boobs

I can sympathise with you Sheza, I'm going through exactly the same thing.
On the nights when I'm moving around heaps and find that I get really frustrated I've been sleeping on the couch. I find it so much more comfy and have a much better sleep

I've tried the pillows, but find that they annoy me, I can't sleep with anything around me like that.

Unfortunately it seems to be a common thing and I found it got worse the bigger I got. I used a snuggle pillow under my belly to sleep, otherwise it was just too heavy. I had the same thing too, Char used to move and kick me as soon as I lay down, it must be the change of position or something. I also worked out it was one of her awake times, between 8 and 10pm, right when I wanted to sleep. I used to sleep during the day to combat the tiredness.

Im glad Im not the only one lol, I thought maybe I was just being a whinger lol!

I was actually thinking last night that I should just try and sleep on the couch, for some reason it really is so much more comfy, I dont know if its cos you can rest against the back of it or what.
I sleep with a pillow between my legs, two pillows under my tummy and I kinda hug them (and sometimes a few pillows behind my back), thats how I usually fall asleep(eventually!!) but I just cant do it when he starts kicking, cos he always slumps to the side Im lying and it feels like Im lying on a hard ball thats constantly bouncing and thats starting to be everynight, plus Im getting BH contractions at night and my tummy feels hard and heavy and blahh Can you tell Im over it? lol I just want my little boy already!

I hogged every pillow in the house when I was preg with the gremlins, poor Willie had to use a folded up continental blanket instead of a pillow

I'm not sleeping well either atm, gremlins are being monkeys at night, my bladder is driving me bonkers and I can't get comfy. So you are definitely not alone! I don't have any solutions either, even after 3 babies, I guess we just have to live with it

The thing I found most helpful was to put a duvet underneath the sheet then sleep on that,...it made so much of a differnce for me!

Avoid if u can choc anything with sugar or caffine after mid day, as see if that helps baby be more still!

Emma that sounds like me lol, but I dont take Adams pillows hehe, but he gets smothred with all mine, he complains that he always wakes up with "One of your damn pillows up my arse!" haha, but he is pretty good with me, he was great last night

I think I'll stop having choc and stuff in the evenings and see if that helps(need my afternoon coffee tho lol, just one )

The tripillow helps me at times and some nights I even go to the spare room and spread out all on my own. I also recommend having naps during the day as this helps me alot especially having a toddler round the house!

Hope you get some much needed rest.

Haha you all have such good cheap options i should have tried them i just made dp buy us a better bed before i was even 12wks with no roll together or movement cos my old bed was uncomfy and shook every time he moved (not good with morning sickness untill 34 weeks).  It helped alot towards the end (spent a few night in the old one while shifting that was bad) but also on my side with higher knee bent up on a pillow helped and dp rubbing my back

we went to back to bed and luckly the day i dragged him in they had a special on and we got a super king with one of the better mattresses 3 pillow and 2 sheet sets for $2500 which was pretty good considering it would have been about $6000 normally.  Then we picked up at the farmers sale 2 duvet sets, duvet inner and mattress protector for about $200 i think.  Hmm maybe it was queens bday weekend or something.....

Hubby and I also purchased a new bed recently (king size) and I must admit it has helped with the sleeping but I still sometimes like to have the whole bed to myself ha ha!

You're going to hate me for saying this (and I understand because I'm a coffee lover too) but when I moved my afternoon coffee to the morning things got a lot better for me at night. I compensated by having something sweet in the afternoon

Other than that I had a full body pillow that I got at KMart which was great but obviously doesn't solve the 'internal' problem.

On the plus side - Rowan is a great night sleeper now so it won't necessarily follow that your bubba will be up at night once he's out (probably not huge comfort right now though)

On a separate note - I can't believe you're almost 30 weeks already! Wow time flies!

I try to go for a little walk at night that makes me physically exhausted and helps me drift of better.

Then right before bed I drink a big glass of milk and eat a banana. It helps with my heartburn and makes me less nauseaus.
