When I had them, from memory I only had them onwards of about 36 weeks..but do know a lot of women experience them earlier.
And if it was me....if I felt I had to take stronger pain relief than panadol, then I would get professional advice.
How many weeks are you?
Oh...and not sure about how long in regards to them lasting...that can also depend on how many weeks you are as to when you should worry.

i would ask mw...mine said they can be painful(but if they are regular and too painful(i know that doesnt help) to let her know...i was getting BH a lot and combined with him moving and it hurting i couldnt really tell how long they went on sometimes.. i got monitored twice cause of it.. but all was fine..so in short(sorry its not too helpful) I'd check with mw and see what line of action she wants to go with ..

My BH sometimes made me stop but they were never painful. How far along are you? You might wanna call your mw to check how things are.

Yeah this like me, they make me stop and have to ben d over or something but they dont hurt, they just make my tummy feel really uncomfy thats why I bend over cos it takes the pressure off.

lol Midwife said not to worry - even tho some of them were quite painful. I was getting them in an irregular pattern so she just said to watch out for waters leaking etc.. Just the normal stuff. Everything seems to be alright this morning. (oh and i'm 31wks)

My midwife told me that it was a good thing that they are painful, don't quite understand why it is good but made me feel a little better LOL
