I got a text from Noki8201 yesterday telling me that I won 150,000 euros in a nokia promo and to ring a certain number or email nokia8201iaol.es to claim my prize. I did neither, instead I went to the nokia website and contacted them, I figured if this is real, which I doubt, then they will let me know and if not then they are aware that there is a scam going around.

The weirdest part is that I don't even have a nokia phone, so why would I win money from nokia? And why euros?

Has anyone else received the same text?

I am guessing that the number to ring is a premium rate no and you will get charged something stupid for the phone call, so yes i think it is a scam.

I never thought about googling it, derrr!! But yeah AnnC it sounds exactly like that. Luckily I am not a naiive person who would reply or email them, it makes me angry though. I am surprised there is nothing on the nokia website advising that there is a scam going around.

I felt like replying and telling them that Nokia are aware of their little scam, but then I figured they probably want a reply so they know my cellphone number is active, so I am not going to bother.

Actually just got a reply from nokia customer services saying it is a hoax and they are aware of the problem and are investigating it. I had figured that anyway, but it was nice that they actually bothered to reply.
