Hi everyone!
I'm heading down to Wellington in 4 weeks (yay!!) and I really don't want to get my buggy and car seat damaged and dirty on the flight.
I know the international terminals do luggage wrapping but lil old Tauranga airport doesn't offer that service.
Does anyone know of any good ideas for wrapping, like industrial strength glad wrap(and where to purchase this) , or blankets with ropes etc....
TIA

When I flew Akl to Chch they put the buggy into a huge plastic bag. I guess you could use a big black rubbish bag.

Keep in mind that Air NZ have introduced that $20 charge for any extra luggage. (You're allowed one bag I think). They haven't said whether or not those with strollers will be charged.

I tried to find the link for you, but I'm having a blind moment.

ETA: Found the link.

Not happening until August, I thought?
*has a look at linky*
Yup. Thank goodness.
I might call Air NZ to ask about buggy etc.
Infants have just as much luggage allowance as adults, anyway, so it's no problem.

Thanks for your suggestions

It's not coming in until August and us staff haven't yet been notified it hasn't even been confirmed. As usual the Herald has half it's "facts" wrong just like everything they bash us for!!!! (end vent).

Paws, I know exactly what you mean.
I work for Vodafone and there's so much misinformation in the media these days.
Annoying as heck

its ok i work for a Bank and get mis information all the time LOL...

Thanks for the linky though as I didn't know about the changes lucky going this month anyhow.

Paws do you know about the pram wrapping? I only want to do it as when i came back from the UK when took DD a few years ago they took my pram off me and put below and well when i got it back the storm cover was not there and was too shy (not now am more of an experienced traveller) to ask for it and so lost it.. it was one I got from the UK so couldn't replace it (I know it was just a storm cover but it was a really cool one that was held out and very sterdy for a stroller..)

Anyway side tracked ther ein to rambling LOL

we did auck to nelson a few weeks back and stroller went right to the plane...but last year to oz they took it off us one way. We did CHCH last year and car seat and stroller off us but we made sure we did up all the belts etc and tightened them so they wouldnt catch and meant there was no damage....if stroller is an umbrella one (jolly jumper type) then maybe just wrap something around it to keep it tied up but that you can undo quickly at other end?

we dont take our big three wheeler when travelling NZ or overseas...the umbrella one is so much easier to fit in rental cars, motels and airplanes...maybe look into getting one if you dont have one...farmers usually have them pretty cheap....

I flew to Fiji via Air NZ in February, and I took the car seat to get wrapped and they told me they didn't wrap things anymore!!!

Was very unhappy as my car seat got quite damaged and came out with stains all over the material when I got it off the plane in Fiji

So yeah, a couple of black rubbish sacks would do the trick, and it's definitely worthwhile doing
