Hi all, I'm new to this site :)
I'm not pregnant yet, but partner and I are just at the stage of talking about having a kids soon. I'd like to have more info before we officially start TTC.
I'm 32, and 4 years ago had a lumbar spinal fusion (L4-S1, with rods and screws and bone graft). My back is great these days and I don't have any pain, though I am very careful of it.
Has anyone here had a lumbar fusion or know anyone that has one, and how it affected pregnancy or birth. A short search on the net shows a variety of thoughts, some say it's no problem, others experiencing pain, and others saying it affected whether they were able to have an epidural. So any thoughts on the matter would be great.
Many thanks, Debbie

Welcome to Oh Baby! It would probably be best to talk to your GP or specialist (if u are still under one) as it would vary between indiviauals as to how much having had a spinal fusion would affect u during pregnancy, depending on the reasons for the spinal fusion etc etc.
As for the epidural, it would be more difficult, and you would probably need to be under a OB throughout pregnancy. You could ring and speak to the charge m idwife at the nearest hospital and have a chat with them about it, or you could send an email to the OhBaby! OB who would be able to give u some advice/ info also.
