Just wanted to say awesome news! My sister and I are 15 months apart and my mum totally recommends it - in fact she thinks I should be trying now!

first of all congrat's that is so cool. I have 18 month's between my boy's and it was easy when they were pretty little cause Mikey just slept got a little harder when it came to adjusting having them both up more. now it is awsome I love it so much they play pretty well together they have been fighting a bit lately, but I guess that is boy's.

I dont think 18 months is too close. Thats what we are now hoping for. 12 months would have been close

You'll find 18 months is a reasonably common gap - mine are 18 months apart. The first few months were tough (we were in the UK and had no family nearby) but I love that gap now. Now we're going to have a 5 year gap to this one and I'm wondering how the older two are going to cope with this intrusion in their lives!! On the plus side, we're now back in NZ with lots of family around for support!

my first 2 boys are not quite 2 years apart it was good to start with quite easy really till the youngest started learning some "bad behaviour" off his big brother lol but even then they were and still are the greatest of friends...and same as you gemsmum i am now going to have this one who is due a few months after the youngest turns 5 im worried bout him as he is still such a mummy baby boy but we have been talking and i think i have to leave it now till closer to talk again...after all that i think the closer the gap the easier it is on the other kids you have

congrats!!!!!

Wow congrats Sylvia

I have 17 months between my 2 and now we love it, wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty hard at the start (more the lack of sleep) because I had 2 kids waking all night. My Dr has the same age gap and he warned me and said if its not one its the other, which I have found so true. But you do quickly adjust to the lack of sleep and everything.

On the plus side Tristan won't even remember being an only child and while you may have a few issues when bubs is born (we had biting) they get over it pretty quickly. Now that Caprece is crawling they play together all the time which is so sweet to watch. Jack is also really protective of her around other kids, he won't let anyone near her lol.

You could put him in daycare or something once a week just so you get a time to catch up on sleep and spend time with the new baby. My MIL used to take Jack and it was so good for us. Have a playgroup or something already set up before baby arrives so you can go there when new baby is small and just rest because Tristan will be used to it and will use up his energy.

All the best you have some really fun times coming up

I was originally planning a 2 yr age gap between first and second but we decided to start trying a lot earlier - it just seemed right. There will be about 18 months age gap between my first and these two. What I didnt count on was having twins. Still I wouldnt change it now. I know it will be hard work to start with but I am looking forward to them being able to entertain themselves a lot more and being great friends as they get older. We are eventually going to have all 3 boys in the same room to create more space in our small house.

Congratulations...  There is 13 months between my older sis and me and we are the best of buddies, although there is 7 years between my youngest sis and me and we are best of buddies too.

My little man is only 12 weeks and we are kinda trying again :) I like the thought of them being close in age.

Good luck!!

I have an 18 month gap between Josiah and Xavier, and will have another 18 month gap again between Xavier and Jackson. Yeah, it can be hard work at the beginning (so true that if its not one its the other!) but as they get older it gets easier.

I have my boys in a routine where Josiah's day sleep and Xavier's afternoon sleep happen at the same time. This gives me some quiet time during the day to get stuff done - like have a shower! The boys are great friends, and play together pretty well, although they both are at stages where they fight a bit too (Josiah's at that "that belongs to me, don't touch!" stage and Xavier's at the "but I wanted it first" stage)

I just thought I add in you will get a lot of comments from randoms about how busy you will be, can get a bit annoying.

Also yeah it is hard but its only in hindsight do I realise how hard it was because every makes such a big deal how hard it will be you expect the worse. Its easier than first time around because you know what your doing and the part thats hard is dealing with a toddler and trying to keep their routine going rather than the newborn.
