Does anyone else attend the dawn service??

This year I am taking the boys to the dawn service in Feilding and then depending on how good they are (nore how tired they are) they will come with me to the other services I have to play at.

This year Andrew is going to wear his Great Grandfathers (MIL's dad) medals.

We'll be attending the 10am service this year. Growing up though my dad used to take us to the dawn service, it was always really exciting getting up early and seeing all the people marching. One year me and my dad marched in place of my Grandad, that was really cool.

I'd love to but we live 50km from the service so thats a long way in the morning when you are already sleep deprived. I just hope there is a decent one locally.

I normally play the bagpipes in them. This year will be the first I am not. I even played last year 20odd weeks preggers!

I play in a brass band and we will be doing the dawn service at Waikumete Cemetary in West Auckland, and then a few later in the morning.

I love Anzac Day, especially the dawn parade (despite the early start). It's such a wonderful celebration and time for reflecting on our past as a nation. And the free feeds at the RSA are good too!

I just saw on the news that some low life stole a whole heap of poppys as well as collectors badges and collection buckets.
That is just horrible. Makes me sick thinking how low someone could go.

I play in Feilding Brass, and we do the dawn service in Feilding, the 9am service in Sanson and then 11.30 in Ashhurst. It is a long day be very well worth it.

I was wondering about whether our girls would enjoy it. I've only ever been once but after the initial excitement, the speeches seem really long. Do other preschoolers enjoy it?

This is Andrew and Josh's first one (of many now), but when I have been at the dawn service in Feilding there have been heaps of preschoolers there and they have been really well behaved.

We go to Rongatea its where all the armourers go and its at 10am, although if you are playing in the band Becks I might wander down and attend the Feilding one.

There have always been lots of children at the ones I've been to, used to go to Bulls.
