OK, so I have plucked up all my bravery and started this thread now that I apparently have a toddler I am not agreeing that she is ever going to grow up but think it is time to move over for the new lot of April/May babies born this year.

If someone could sticky this please??

I guess we had to do it sometime. I have been fighting it for a couple of weeks now and was thinking I would really have to sort this out soon.

Well I have had to have the last 2 days off work due to my miserable child (he is such a male when he is sick ) but it is back to work today. Wahoo not long until our holiday which I am really looking forward to even if it is only a short one. Now I just have to get a bunch of sewing finished before we go. Hmmm I think it should be a father/son weekend and I should be left alone to sew and knit

I know Kathryn! It's so frightening isn't it. I have been fighting the 'Toddler' title for a while, but I guess since Miss S has now starting running I should really submit to it

Woohoo to going on holiday Julie! While you sewing feel free to make Sam more nappies or dresses! The ones for her birthday are amazing!!! Will post photos of both once I get around to ironing the dress

Sam is carrying around her first proper spoon this afternoon. I bought her a purple & green spoon today so she can feed herself since she is so determined to!    Not that I have to worry about her not eating. For lunch today she had a marmite sandwich, a box of raisins, a cocktail sausage, 4 chippies & some of my sandwich.   I'm not altogether sure where she puts it all

Wow she is doing well with her eating, my monkey can be terrible somedays.

We will have to see if any other girly clothes call out to me for sewing when I have a bit more free time Can't wait to see her in it though, hopefully it isnt too big.

I am still scared of the toddler forum idea

Gosh it's only been a few weeks and we are this slack already!!!

We have had a busy few weeks with Sam's party etc and are just getting back to some form of normal atm.
Jumping Beans starts back up again tomorrow, which should be good, and thursday we are going to try out the local rhyme time in the library.
I have also heard about a local playgroup on a monday that only costs $2 and doesn't have waiting lists or set rules/times of when/how often you go so am going to try that out I think too. We were going to try playcentre, but I just can't deal with the level of commitment yet. Also I think it will be more fun for Sam if she is a bit older.

So what has everyone else been up to?

Julie, it's only a couple of days until you go away you lucky girl! I am so jealous

Well I have been having a miserable week, as I have felt totally rotten and had to have some time off work.. It has reduced to a head cold which is still not the best as we fly out at 6.30 tomorrow morning You should see the stack of menthol medication I picked up today.
There are nose drops and tissues and vapour drops and airwaves gum, all to try and clear my nose in the next 12 hours. I am thinking it could be a lost cause though.

I am so looking forward to having a few days away in some nice warm weather though, thanks for the jealousy

I should be finishing the last of the packing and closing up the bags befoer the boys get home but am being lazy and trying to warm my toes in bed whoops

Sounds like you and Sam are going to be busy girls Sterryn.

wah hoo for Julie, up up and away, hope your cold goes away very very quickly and you get to have a great holiday
Sterryn, I loev the idea of playcentre but I look forward to getting rid of my kids for a few hours, I could never commit to that full time. We go to a playgroup at the local parent centre each fri which we love. Cailin goes swimming on a thurs, then she is at daycare one day a week. Life is busy enough without commiting to playcentre as well....I admire all the mums who decide to be playcentre mums, 10 points for them.

Anyway, very busy trying to sort a bday party (tomorrow night) and a surprise 40th wedding anniversary party (sat night) and I am chief cake maker and decorator for both. which would be fine if my oven worked, so I have to go to my sil house today to use hers, what a mare.
right I'm off to start on my 200 meter list

Charlotte, how did the party go??? We want pics!

Sam has picked up a cold I think (or maybe hayfever). Friday around 1pm all of a sudden her nose started running and has been yuck since. That is it though, apart from the fact that she looked awful and pale for a day or two. She is happy enough though.
I am pretty over hayfever myself! What a weird time of year to get it! I sneezed about 10 times in a row this morning! Thought I was going to pass out if I had to sneeze again    Oh, and that whole saying about 7 sneezes in a row - bollucks!!!

Ok guys where is everyone?

We got back very early monday morning and I have been sick every since. I had to go to the dr's today to get antibiotics as my throat has been swelling closed, and was starting to look pussy

Holiday was ok alothough we were very glad to come home and back to a bit more normalcy.

And my bit of news for the week is that as of Wednesday next week I am going to be a SAHM. YAY. I am very excited about it. What you up to next Friday Sterryn
Right off to get some more rest. Hope you all are doing well.

I am so glad to hear that you were able to work that out in the end. You must be thrilled!

Bummer about being sick :( It doesn't sound nice at all!!! You poor thing. Make sure you look after yourself.
We have all had bad colds here starting with Sam this week, so it has been a miserable week here too!. Ugh!

And yes, where is everyone :(

My child has just cut her first molar!! OMG, I didn't even realise. She wouldn't sleep tonight so I thought I would give her some bonjela, when I put my finger at the back of her gum there it was!
So bizarre though. She now has two top teeth, 3 bottom teeth and a molar! Talk about doing it out of order

Wow a molar, that is crazy. We got our 8th tooth the night before we came home from oz, so currently have 4 top and 4 bottom all in front. Talk about dribbling like a tap on full for that last tooth though, not looking forward to the molars which I'm guessing are next.

Happy Birthday to Kyan for tomorrow, I hope you have a great party.

I am still a bit sore in the throat but slowly getting better, although I am hoping to send my son off to his grandma's place for a little while today so I can sew up some pj's for him that I finally got cut out yesterday. I had better go though as I just heard him grunting

first things first, the bday party was fantastic, we had it at the local parents centre and just had a sausage sizzle and lots of chips/dips and lollies. Then a quick tidy up and home we went to relax...all very easy. The cake turned out great too. I wll pop a pic or two up when I have time.
Wow, I can't beleive that little Sam is growing her molars already, she must want to eat a steak real quick huh
Julie, sorry to hear your damn cold has taken forever to go....but SO VERY HAPPY to read you are going to be a SAHM, congrats and welcome to the club.

I have had my apron strings really pulled this week , I weaned Jeremy, (pretty easy really) Jeremy turned one and Cailin started kindy....what has happend to my little babies , mind you, after saying that, I am loving giving Jeremy a bottle in the morning which he holds himself while I am drinking my coffee and am really looking forward to 2.5 hours each afternoon with only one child....wah hoooooo
have a great weekend everyone, I hope you are all having some of this amazing weather too

Thanks for the birthday wishes Julie, Kyan had a lovely time at his party but we had a very exhausted bubba by the end of it all! I'll post a pic of his cake when I get a chance.

Congrats again Julie on becoming a SAHM - I am very pleased for you (but very jealous too!!)

Yay on the molar for Sam!! Its great that she was so settled with it - we had a pretty rough time with the first one but the second one is looking to come through any day now without much trouble thank god!!

Charlotte, great to hear the party went well - still waiting on the pics though...! I didn't take any at Kyan's...oops! I'm hoping someone did and will be able to send them to me!

Hope its going well with Cailin at kindy, I bet she is loving it.

We went to Plunket this morning and my boy is 10.6kgs and 80cm tall. He's definitely going to be tall like his dad.

Where is everybody??

OMG, did you say 80cm! That is a whopping 11 cm taller than sam! I told you he wasn't that heavy though   I can throw him around quite easily still

The party was fantastic and Sam had a great time

Oh, and btw we have gone from having 5 teeth + half a molar to 7 teeth and 2 molars in less than a week! Ugh!

Wow on the teeth Sterryn!! We still haven't gotten any more through here but it can't be too far away.

Kyan's favourite toy from his party Sterryn is....the school bus!!!! Good choice ! He pushes it round the place and loves the little song it plays and you have to keep pusing the button to play it for him. Sam will have to come over and play again soon.

Well for the first time, Kyan didn't cry at all today at swimming, he had such a great time & it was just gorgeous to watch. He loves the part where the instructor sits him on the ledge, they count to 3 and he jumps in and goes right under - he has such a big smile on his face and shuts his eyes tight, soooooo cute!!

Kyan learnt to clap on Tuesday (finally!!), and when you say clap your hands he just goes for it. Gives me a high five if I ask for one too, he's just so interactive its amazing.

I cannot believe my baby is one tomorrow, I know you guys have all been there so can probably sympathise, but its actually really sad knowing that he is growing up... I'm hoping the weather is going to stay nice for us as we want to take him to the zoo for his birthday, but if it rains we'll go to Kelly Tarltons. And we'll treat him with a happy meal or something for lunch seeing as its such a special day.

Hope all the other bubbas are good, this thread is not as busy as it should be so get posting everyone!!

Happy 1st Birthday Kyan!!!

One year ago today you came into this world and changed my life forever. Every day with you has been the most amazing experience and I wouldn't change a second of it. You are the best thing to ever happen to me, and I never knew how much a person could love another until I first laid eyes on you, and my love for you grows more and more every day. I have watched you grow over the past year from a small helpless baby to a happy, independant, gorgeous little man. You make my life worthwhile, and I couldn't imagine ever being without you. Thank you for being my son. All my love forever, Mummy xxxxxxxx

Aww that is lovely Tash. Sorry I haven't posted much lately, it is actually really hard to try and get things back in order around the house. Also has been a bit clingy, like he is worried I will go away again.

Caleb is teething again at the moment although a lot better than he used to be. We have 2 new baby boys to go visit this week too, which is very exciting and only born a day apart.

Right I am off to try get some sleep now but I will talk to you all again soon.

Poor Caleb. He loves his mummy though which is so nice

Sam is looking forward to Friday so she can play with him!

We went to Thames today and went through the Butterfly House. Sam loved it although really didn't like it when they landed on her. It was pretty amazing though. Makes me really want to go to Butterfly creek. Haven't been there yet!

Oh, and someone here has finally found her voice. She has started saying so many new words lately and her old words are way clearer. She will point at DH and say Dad, and say Hi when she sees you.   So cute!!!

Caleb is looking forward to playing with Sam again too. You should have told us you were going to Thames, we could have come to see you.

I really need to work out a time to go to Butterfly Creek too I think, probably not until next month though I think too poor at the moment. I didn't even know there was one in Thames.

So I am about to start my first full week as a SAHM, even though it still feels like I am on holiday from work. Hopefully I will be able to be at least slightly productive. DH has said that he will give me an hour of time to myself each night so I can have some time to get things done. So hopefully that works out well and I might get to finish some of Calebs knitting and sewing pile.

happy birthday Kyan, may you cause your Mum less and less stress and more and more sleep as each year passes!!!!

Sorry, very slack here at the moment, Cailin is a very busy young lady with kindy 4 afternoons a week, daycare, swimming and playgroup in the mornings so when we get home we are all tired and grumpy so I am getting very little time on the pc

OMG, how quiet are we! Suddenly our kids become toddlers and we all stop posting! Co-incidence!! I think not!!!

Miss S is such a handful these days! Toddler tantrums are definitley here and we have had some dozies!!!! The other thing she is doing is the fake cry so if you tell her to stop doing something she will go and lean on the couch, put her head in her arms and pretend to cry. Little ratbag!!

On the other side of it, she is just such a delight these days. Never stops talking and loves to make us laugh with her silly antics. Just the last few days she has started running on the spot when she gets really excited. It is super cute! 'sigh' she rocks!

So how is everyone else?

Tash, how did the meeting go on Friday afternoon?

Julie, have you made the pj's for Caleb yet? I am about to start knitting Sam's new jersey. I went back to spotlight today and got some pink zoomy wool which is just scrummy! OMG - I'm way to domestic! Tomorrow I hope to get a couple of nappies underway if I can figure out how to fix the darn sewing machine!!

Oh, and is it just me or has anyone else discovered new muscles in the back of their thighs after climbing up a certain kids playground to go down the slides??? OUCH!!

ditto Sterryn, I came on here this morning just to post something so we dont all get kicked out for being so slack
But life is so busy isn't it! I also have a problem of a certain young man pushing the off button on the pc every time I am on it, it is now barracaded up with a chair and big box of toys but he is doing his best to move it
Ha ha re the tantrums Sterryn, just think they have only just started, and they get bigger and bigger each day. cailin has finally grown out of the throw myself on the floor and kick arms and legs out everywhere screaming all the while....these were at their best on the main street
I am being very domestic too at the moment, I am trying my hand at making roman blinds for the new house, I thought I would start with Cailins room and if they turn out OK I will make them for the whole house. I am also making a dress for me out of the old curtains in our lounge, fingers crossed it comes out OK...mind you, if it doesn't it hasn't cost me anything

Heyas
I still come on here occasionally *oops*. We're in the middle of Kaleb being really sick - I think it might be a nasty winter ahead - spent about 1.5hours on Sat and then again on Sun at the after hours doc - not nice! He's had conjuncitivitis, an ear infection, infected pussy finger and a nasty cold which went to his chest. SO we've been dosing eye drops and antibiotics. I hate to say it but it does seem like every long weekend.....
He went to daycare yesterday but DH got phoned this morning to go and get him as he had a temp of 38.2 and when he got there Kaleb vomitted all over him so I am really hoping it was just from having morning tea with a high temp and not another stomach bug. Poor wee thing is so little to be so run down and fighting all these infections If only we could afford for me to be off work....
Stink also that we sat down and wrote out a strict budget to pay off our credit card (yes naughty debt I know) so hopefully we'll be able to stick to that no problem.

Nosey to ask, but anyone thinking about or trying for another one yet?

What are you trying to tell us Kathryn??

I would love another but have a deal with DH that we won't start trying until I have lost 20kgs. I really want to be healthier for the next one and with a toddler running around think I will need to be!!!
I should really start doing something about that losing weight thing huh :)

Poor little Kaleb!!! I will keep my fingers crossed it isn't another bug!
I was reading that their immune system doesn't have a memory for colds etc yet so they just keep getting them. We are currently in the midst of another cold here after JUST getting over the last one! Poor wee girl can hardly breathe. I am taking her to the doctors tomorrow and asking about the Demazin drops. Has anyone used them? They are meant to be quite good with decongesting them. Worth a try anyway!

Anyway, better go. Lots of things to do tonight.
We had Tash & Kyan over today for a play - it was great fun as usual

poor Kaleb...actually no, poor Mum, what a line up of things that is all about sick. At least you can say it can't get much worse.
Jeremy sounds like Sam, he seems to have a cold one week then good for a week then the cold comes straight back again. This week I have been burning tea tree oil in the lounge and putting echanasia (SP) in his milk and I have to say, his cold has only lasted 2-3 days, so when his next cold hits in a weeks time I am def going to do the same.
Re another one.....NO WAY, I am far to old to be going through that again , but then, I am one up on all of you girls anyhow
How is your weight loss going Sterryn....20kgs, that is a big goal, I hope you are heading in the right direction.
Me, I got to my goal weight about a month ago (yay for me) but am very disappointed as there is a lot more flab this time round than when I last at this weight. I have just starting running again (training for a half marathon in Oct) so hopefully some of that flab may tighten up a wee bit

Hehe no I'd LOVE another one but after working out our budget the other day the idea is on hold for a wee while. I too need to lose about 20kg - I've been doing WW for months now with only a little bit of success, but still I"m 10kg lighter than I was winter last year. THat's with not too much effort so I really need to crank it up a few notches especially since we've had to put WW into the budget and I can't really afford to pay to put on weight!

I have school holidays around the 7th of JUly if you want to have a mini OB catchup? GOing away to Taupo the second week - my lovely dad gave us his timeshare so it's just gonna cost us petrol and food YIPEE!

Go, on Charlotte - you know you want three

My weight loss is at a stand still! I am still 10 kgs lighter than i was when i got PG, but have not lost any more yet. I keep wanting to but can't seem to find the motivation! Have put the hard word on DH though to make sure he helps me behave myself!

It was great catching up with Sterryn and Tash on Friday. Caleb had such a good time.
I hope the meeting went well

I am sorry to hear that Kaleb still isnt very well Kathryn, hope you all dont have too much more sickness this winter. No more babies just yet for us although we do have a bit of a game plan

We would love to catch up in the school holidays. And yay about the cheap holiday in Taupo.

Well I have just had the dreaded phone call. Daycare called and said that there is a place available for Kyan on the 30th of June

I am so so so sad to leave my boy, I am already crying my eyes out today, imagine what I'll be like the weekend before... I knew this was coming and that it had to hapen so we can get ourselves out of debt but its hit me really hard now that we have a firm date after all this time. Wow.

Just rambling so ignore me if you want. But I just had a sudden shock at how much my little girl has grown up this year! I was looking at some photos of her from Xmas and realised that less than 6 months ago she wasn't even crawling yet and now she is running and talking!!
It has really blown me away and I am a little sad about it
We were at the park today and she was walking away from me so i said 'bye bye Sam' and she waved, turned slightly and said 'bye bye'. It was so cute! Almost as good as yesterday when she came up to me and patted me on the arm and said 'good girl' (I still don't know if she meant me or her)

Tash, poor you, it is so hard to give your baby to somebody else to look after....mind you, not so hard the second time around. Jeremy is starting daycare with Cailin one day a week in 2 weeks time and I am so damn excited about having a morning a week to myself you can't believe

I cant believe it either. Caleb has become such a little man. I dont quite know when it happened, I look back at photos and can't believe he used to be so small. problem is looking at baby pictures are starting to make me a bit clucky.

Although not this week, we are all sick and it isnt fun at all, although Caleb only has a snotty nose now, and it is just DH and I that feel terrible.

I am not sure if I mentioned it but we have cut 1 molar and have another one not far off so up to a count of 9 teeth.

9 teeth! It sounds like so mnay for these little people to have   We have 7 definites and 4 on the way! One molar is through all the way and the other 3 have little prongs poking through so they shouldn't be long either hopefully

It is cold here today - Brrr. Probably nothing compared to you other girls further down the country but I am a wimpy Auckland girl!

Sam has started fighting the day naps again!!! The last two mornings I have had to resort to CIO (which I hate to do) and it is has still taken up to 30 minutes for her to go to sleep! Little ratbag!

Anyway, must go - sheets to change, vacuming to do etc etc

We have a nap fighter too. We are down to 1 sleep around lunchtime if we are lucky. The other day he was tired and I was trying to quickly finish something before I fed him and put him to sleep and he got up on the coffee table laid down and whinged until I stopped. Went to sleep pretty quickly though so must have been really tired.

LOL Caleb climbing on the table    I can just see him doing that too!

It is weird though, Sam goes to bed at night with no complaints. Just rolls over and goes to sleep. Maybe it is more a wind down thing as at night we do the whole bedtime routine where as during the day it is bottle and bed

So cute, I just got fed by my 1 year old. She has a emtpy measuring cup and spoon and keeps feeding me like I am the baby

Thought I better post!

What clever kiddies we all have!

Sam has two ear infections. :( And a cough and a runny nose, so he's on antibiotics now.   He's had a pretty rough day, starting off grazing his chin on a little table, banging his cheek at the doctors, getting a scratch on the hand from the cat, and that's all on top of his nasty cold!

He's running and climbing everything now! And was weighed at the doctors today at 12.1KG, so he's a big boy! Very tall too.

He doesn't talk much, but says dada, mama, nana and various chicken type noises.   And his new thing is if you say 'all gone' he will hum it back to you in the same tone.

And I didn't realise how much kids love to put things in the toilet!!

Better get back to my little man, he's not feeling too good.

Would love to have a meet up with all the April/May mums and babies!

Lol at the feeding thing Sterryn. We get it a bit to these days but usually he thinks it is a big joke to make us take bites of his food. Worse part is when he thinks he should try and jam random bits of rubbish past our closed lips. Does not make for a happy mummy.

Renee I am sorry to hear Samuel isn't doing too good. Hopefully he feels better soon. I know what you mean about the toilet though. We try to be very careful and keep the door closed at all times so he can't get in there.
I will have to organise to get over there and see you at some stage in the near future.

Yay, Renee. I am so glad you posted. I often wonder how you and that gorgeous son are

I'm sorry to hear he has been in the wars though. Poor wee boy! They are tough wee things though aren't they!!!

I would love to meet up at some stage too - we will definitley have to do that. We have some stuff going on at the moment, but once we are sorted we hope to come down that way for a few day trips and have a look around at prospective new homes   Yes we are looking at moving to the Waikato
Anyway, I will definitely contact you before we do so we can arrange to met up.
If you are interested, i would love to go to the Hamilton Zoo sometime as well. Hopefully we could con Julie & Caleb to come too

Anyway, I am supposed to be doing my Power Point assignment - so better go do that

its amazing to read some of the things my baby girl also does....

Hi mrshouse, and congratulations on your up coming arrival. Welcome to our thread, you are definatley welcome to join us, we always love new faces. Where in the country are you located?

My name is Julie and my little boy Caleb is walking but he has been in a hurry to do everything so I have been having to chase him since he was 8.5 months old.

A SAHM is a stay at home mum. Good on you for taking a sewing class, I love being able to make different things to what is in stores, gives so much more variety.

Hehehe Sterryn I see you have announced it publically even if it is still a while away yet. Squeeee I am so excited though. I hope you weren't up all night with you assignment.
We are so keen on the idea of the zoo, DH and I keep thinking we need to take Caleb over now that he is so interested in animals.

Argghhh I am so over the Domino's Techno Chicken dance. DH showed to Roo the other day and he has been addicted to it. It is so cute when he gets so excited and starts dancing to it.
It is actually pretty funny the first time, but trust me when you have had to play it 10 times in a row as he keeps hitting the buttons to try make it go it is enough.

Hi Mrshouse and welcome   Definitely the more the merrier around here. Its a great place to tell your toddler horror stories

I am Sterryn and my daughter is Samantha. She has been walking now since she was 10.5 months old. trust me it is over-rated though. She can just move faster to the stuff she shouldn't be in now   In saying that she is just a wee dot of a thing. Last weigh in was 8.88kgs.

Julie - DAMN YOU!!! I watched the chicken dance against my better judgement and now Sam is addicted too!   It is awful but so funny at the same time.
I finished my assignment around midnight. It was quite fun and a good reason to show off my gorgeous wee girl in our favourite cloth nappies!

I am so excited now too. Now that the decision has been made February can't come around too soon for my liking!!!

Oh YAY Sterryn, you're moving down here! Sam and Sam will be able to play together.   Hopefully we will all get to do the zoo thing soon.

Sam is feeling a little better today, infact, I'm sure some of the medicine he was given is making him even more hyperactive (I think I might have the most full-on child ever created anyway). Sam runs around at 100 miles an hour, laughing his head off, touching everything. Cute, but tiring.

Welcome mrshouse! My name is Renee and I am a solo mum to Sam, who was born on the 22nd of May.   We are living with my mum at the moment who is a weight loss consultant, and so far I've lost 25kg! WOOOO, go me!

I need to post more!

Hope everyone is well.

Woah Renee, 25kgs!!!! You go girl!
I have watched the biggest loser and the 1/2 ton women tonight so am feeling quite motivated to actually do something about mine! Tomorrow is the day i start doing some exercise - about blimmin time. That is not counting the walking to the park etc that we already do either. I am hoping to get up bright and early and do something before Sam wakes up. I think it is really my only option

And Renee....you do need to post more!!! We miss you around here

My Sam runs 100 miles an hour too. She loves getting outside and running around on our patio and grass. She just runs around singing little songs and laughing at herself. It is so cute!!!

Wahoo Renee, that is fantastic news about the weight loss. Glad to hear that Sam is feeling better too.

Aww sorry to here Ane has a cold we have had a snotty nose all week (well it has really been a household epidemic) although it has been a lot better so far this morning and he is actually able to breathe through his nose again.

Anyway I had better go hang out the washing. Hope you all have a good weekend.

wah hooo, from no postings for a week our little thread has gone mad! So good to have you back Renee, we've missed you...well done on your weight loss, thats awesome.
and welcome to you Mrshouse, your weight loss and gains seems to be exactly as mine, I put on 28 kgs with Cailin then got to 1kg off goal and got myself preganant again. I only gained 20kgs with Jermey and about a month ago got to goal...but have to admit very disappointed with it, 65kgs post babys is nothing like 65kgs before 2 kids...ah well, now I am exersising to try and tone up a bit.

Yay for Taranaki, we are hosting an All Blacks game, very very excited, when we lived in London we got to go to so many AB games and I miss them so much. Fingers crossed we get tickets

Yay for Sterryn for moving South, you are getting closer to me now, maybe I could come up to Hamilton one weekend and we could all go shopping......what is the reason for your move

Oh Julie, now that is a very sad but very funny chicken dance...so very very happy that I watched it without Cailin around, we would never see the end of it....

Hi Neoshasmum    It's most definitley the more the merrier around here

We have had the most boring day today. I almost feel bad as it hasn't even been nice enough for Sam to get outside and have a run around on the lawn. (She loves to run on the lawn and get nice and muddy )   She has pretty much been entertaning herself today!

We are trying to extend her bedtime (I know you probably think I'm crazy!!!) but at the moment she is wanting dinner at 5pm and bed at 6! I just want to bring it out a little bit to around 6.30-7 so we can start having meals as a family. I was hoping to get an afternoon nap out of her but nooooo! So she has had a whole 40 minutes today before lunch!

Nice to see a few more mummies joining us, and to see Renee back. Now Tash - where have you gone???

hows everything now Mrshouse, hope all is well once more.

Cailin fell asleep last night at 5.45 and she slept right through to 7 this morning! She didn't even have any tea last night.

After 4 hours of trying to get tickets to the all blacks game in New Plymouth I had success, WWWAAAAHHHHH HHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOO
crappy seats, but who cares, I'm going to see the all blacks....last game I went to was in Cardif and the ABs were playing Wales, and I was 12 weeks pregnant with Cailin.
The other great thing about this is that our new house is about a 10 min walk to the grounds so double yay, we don't have to worry about a car space, we can drink and be very merry....go the blacks I say

Do you have sleeping issues with Ane?
I am so lucky. Sam has slept through the night since she was about 6 weeks old. She now seems to be going from around 6.30-7ish at night till 7.30-8am in the morning. It is bliss! The odd night now that she doesn't sleep through it damn near kills me because I am just not used to it!

Well boring day here for me today. Went grocery shopping - big whoop, but it was the first time I have left the house in around 2 weeks so it was actually quite nice! I hate the price of petrol so much now! Why oh why do we have a V6 car!!

Hey ya - glad to see so many old and new people posting (makes up for me being slack!!!)

I'm Kathryn and my DS is Kaleb who's just 14months. He's just over 12kg and took his first steps at 13mths but is still only keen to walk about a metre max at a time.

Have had an awful couple of weeks. DH ended up in hospital last weekend so things have only just started to get back to normal this weekend just gone. He's fine and they're still not too sure what it was exactly that he had.

Sterryn, you're leaving Auckland, how come?

Kathryn - Gosh! Your family isn't having a good run at all are they! I think you need to all sit yourselves down and give yourselves a jolly good talking to! I hope your DH is feeling better now!

BTW, woohoo for Kaleb walking! You didn't tell us you naughty thing   What a clever boy!

Hey it is school holidays in a couple of weeks! We should definitley get together!

In answer to your question. We have always said we didn't want to raise a family in Auckland or the city in general to be honest. Both of us love the rural small town lifestyle and want that for Sam. We just wanna go somewhere where the pace of life is a little slower and we can relax a little. It also helps that in the Waikato we might even stand a chance at owning our own home where in Auckland the house prices are just way out of our price range now!!

Wow a bit of reading for me to do lol

Neosha is sick today, has a nasty cough which kept her up most of last night, I got so tired from running up all those stairs I just grabbed the portacot out and put her in my room. Poor thing was crying in her sleep. I will get her into the doctor tomorow arvo she may need meds. (and so will I because im coughing)

Hmmm interesting to see toddlers with so many teeth!! Neosha has 6- 4 up top 2 down bottom

She is saying hello, bye, Taa, mum, dad, puss puss, whats this, whats that, no, up, keys ummmm cant think of anymore.

Brrr cold today. Don't want to go anywhere!!!!

Poor Neosha    We have had so many colds here lately. I read in the latest Treasures magazine that our kids immunity systems have no memorys for the cold virus yet so can just keep getting them over and over!
I have found the Txylix (sp?) chest rub quite good - it seemed to help with Sam's breathing at night. It's ok to use from 1 year. Also I put a few drops of salt water up her nose right before bed and then suction it out which definitely helped her!

Sam has 11 teeth now, but 3 of them (molars) are only partially through. 6 up top and 5 down the bottom. She has cross cut them all over the place!! I am glad the molars are all mostly through now though! I definitely know the teething necklace helped with those suckers!!!

Sam has her own little language, most of it is a mystery to me to be honest. I do reckonise Dad, cat and Hi. Also she says what's that & who's that. Mum she saves for the occassions of me having food that she wants though 'Mummummummumumummummummum' - you get the idea

Sorry its been so long since I last posted ladies, I'm finding it hard to find the time to get on here at the moment. I'll read back through the thread soon, but firstly welcome mrshouse and NeoshasMummy! My son Kyan was born on the 25th of May and in a week and a half will be going into fulltime daycare and I am going back to work . Kyan is doing great and has all 12 of his first teeth now! They have been really good coming through, except for the first molar which gave him a bit of trouble. I'm hoping he's going to get a bit of a break from teething for a while.

The other day was so cute, every night after he is in bed I pack up all his toys and make sure there is nothing missing. I couldn't find the circle from his Tupperware Shape-O, which is his favourite shape and always the first one he picks up, so I was a bit worried when I couldn't find it. I looked EVERYWHERE and it was nowhere to be found. The next morning I said to him "where is your round yellow shape"? And he pointed out to the deck and said "there", I went and had a look, and there it was, lying on the deck under the table!!!! He couldn't see it from where we were standing so it was so cool that he pointed me right to it!! Very clever little man

Sterryn, Kyan does the mumumumumumum thing too, not when I have food but just on the odd occasion if he wants to be taken out of his high chair, or picked up or something.

I can't think what else is new really... I want to get out of the house and do something with Kyan today but I have no idea what to do, the park will still be too wet - I'm just very conscious of the fact that I only have 7 1/2 more weekdays with him so I want to make the most of it...ideas anyone??!!

Sorry to hear Neosha is sick - hope she is feeling better soon! Well we're not TTC #2 yet, I do have a plan for that which I have had for years, but financially I don't really think its a goer - plus I need to sort my relationship with DH out before we even think about #2! (oh and the baby weight but thats another issue!) I'm supposed to be starting WW tomorrow, but I was supposed to actually start 3 weeks ago but my friend keeps letting me down. Hopefully we'll finally make it tomorrow night.

Kyan's had a very clever past few days - on Friday we were hanging out with Sterryn and Samantha and Sterryn and I were trying to get Kyan to take his first step and HE DID IT!!!! Only one, and he hasn't taken another one yet, but I am just so pleased I got to see his first step. I was really worried about it happening at daycare and me missing it. And then on Saturday, we went swimming and after only 8 lessons he has already graduated to the next class!! So thats very exciting, and he got a certificate for it too

You naughty thing you. You didn't tell me you were joining WW tomorrow. Sneaky, sneaky
I am incredibly jealous and wish we could afford for me to join to   I might have to do it with you from afar though

Poor Neosha. It sucks when these poor little babies are sick.
As for TTC #2, not yet for us. I have promised myself and DH that i will lose 20kgs before we even think about it. Not only that but I am actually wanting about a 3 year gap between kids ideally.

Well we are having a quiet day today. Sam is currently putting all her toys on her Daddy who is trying to watch motorsport and I am on the computer (well duh!!) with the cat!

I have to add, that i was so pleased Sam won BOTW. Thanks to all of you that voted for her

And hang on a minute woman, you and I were supposed to have our second babies around the same time!!!! I'm gonna give you a kick up the bum to get you to start losing the weight - I have 20kgs to lose as well so we need to motivate each other (and stick to it this time!)

This thread seems to have gone quiet again!! Where is everyone?

Anyway, Kyan had his first visit to the dental nurse today. It was cool, they had so many toys there and the dental nurse got out all the toys that sung and played those for him. She checked all his teeth with the little mirror they have and let him hold one at the same time. His teeth are all good It was really nice actually, and he has to go back same time next year.

The funniest thing just happened, Kyan was wandering around the place and then I heard a very muffled little cry...I ran through the house trying to find where he had gone and eventually found him in our wardrobe! He has a bad habit of having to close doors and he had shut himself in there! Silly boy

I have been slack, Sorry girls. DH was sick at then end of last week and Caleb and I have felt rotten the last couple of days. Ahh dont you love how they lock themselves in the weirdest places.

Conrats on winning BOTW Sam, not surprising though being the little cutie she is.

YAY on Kyan's swimming graduation Tash. You must be so proud.

We have 10 teeth at the moment although our molars are only partially through to (2 up top)

We are planning on taking Caleb down to play in the snow in a few weeks time, so that should be interesting, now I just have to get him to keep a hat on his head so he doesn't freeze.
Time is going so fast lately though and I dont know where the time has gone, I can believe it is almost July. Who has been stealing time out from under me??

Heyas, it's me slack@$$ again! Sorry haven't been popping in. One more week and then I'm on school holidays - how are you guys placed for the week 7-11 July?? Lucky us, we get to go away to Taupo for the second week, it feels like AGES since we've had a family holiday.
I promise to keep popping in, but next year I'll be more dedicated (and it is only 6 months away!) as I'll be going back to being a SAHM well at least a part-time SAHM

Gosh Kaleb only has 6 teeth - 4 up top and the two bottom ones although am sure he's teething again at moment, his gums look red, he's waking/crying in night and has had random temp increases this week

Good on you Tash for joining WW. I was going and managed to get 11kg down from what I was after I had K, but budget wise we need to use the $18/wk on other things just hope I don't balloon up!

OMG, I have been slack lately too. I haven't been coming on OB a lot to be honest though. Miss S is keeping me on my toes!

Kathryn, I will definitely be around for that week and would love to catch up with you guys.

Oh, how exciting that you are going to be a part-time SAHM. Give us the details women!

I have just been looking at the Kmart catalogue toy sale in July and am trying to think what I can layby for Sam for Xmas this year. I haven't really been looking in shops the last couple of months as things have been alot tight so don't really know what to get! What are you looking at for your kids? What do 18 month olds like? I am trying to think 6 months ahead and have no idea! Help???

I am up for a catch up that week too, I will just need to check with DH what day we are coming up that week.

Is there something you aren't telling us Kathryn

I have been constantly on my toes with our little monkey too. I can't believe he runs me so ragged.

I am trying to plan the presents we are giving everyone for christmas too. We have bought Caleb train table with a little wooden train, but that also has a blackboard and whiteboard on the base when you take the train off. I also have one of those little indoor tents and am thinking of getting him a baby as he is big on cuddling at the moment and it may be helpful for future training So I think we are pretty much set for him, thankfully. Now just to plan for the rest of the family including my DH and brothers birthdays.

I was thinking about putting together a dress up box for Kaleb's xmas present. Figure if I start now I might be able to make some (haha) and also get some good bargains in some of the sales esp the $2 shop hats etc. Whatcha think?

Kathryn that is a fantastic idea, I might have to start working on that idea. Maybe I could give hime a couple of pieces for christmas and then more for his birthday.

So Auckland girls, does anyone who wants to meet up have a preference for day? or does Friday suit?

Nope, no preference here. I am good for any day except Wednesday    We don't do swimming on Friday's anymore so I'm all good with that

OMG, I saw the cutest little tigger suit on TM. That would definitley have to go in a box for Sam I think! Kathryn, that is such a classic idea you have had! Sam already loves putting hats and scarves on - so it should provide hours of entertainment!

So is anyone else doing any messy play with their kids? I want to but don't really know what to use. She will only eat playdough! Plunket run a messy play group in my area once a week. Maybe I will just pay the $2 and take her to that

Well we are halfway through week 1 of work/daycare and so far so good! I was a mess right up till Monday morning but haven't cried all week Work has been pretty good too so that helps, and I'm only there 6 hours or there abouts so the time actually flies.

Kyan cried yesterday morning when I dropped him off but other than that he has settled in sooo well. All of the teachers there have said to me that he is interacting with the kids as though he has been there for weeks, the way he just gets in and plays. Thank goodness he isn't shy like his mummy. They also all have said what a happy, good boy he is so yay, I'm so, so proud of my little man.

The only bad news is that he has only been there 3 days and already has had 2 accident reports, one on the first morning when he'd only been there 2 hours!! The first time he was climbing on an armchair (kid sized one) and fell off, head first onto the floor, and today one of the other kids whacked him in the forehead with a broom I'm pretty sure it was just an accident though. But he's certainly got lots of marks to show for it!

You guys will have to let me know where/when you are meeting up and I will try and get the day off work to join in if thats ok! I am wanting an excuse to take a day off to spend with Kyan anyway

Glad to hear you and Kyan are settling in well Tash, not so good about the accident reports though.

I haven't started messy play yet although I really should. I am not really sure how to go about it, might have to give the playdoh a go soon.

I got a text from Kathryn requesting Thursday as they are heading away on friday for their holiday.

So if it suits everyone then how does Thursday sound? Any suggestions for venue?

YAY Thursday it is then. Oh and yes Tash we would love it if you and Kyan could come too. Now to just think of a fairly centralish for everyone location to meet up.

Funnily enough, this morning the HR lady came and more or less told me I had to take some leave cos I have too much! So I'm sure they'll be fine with me taking Thursday off. Hopefully they don't push too much for me to take the rest as if I get to TTC when I want to, I'll need the leave to cope with the M/S
