We took soph to see the oseteo and he asked about our feeding, we give her one bottle a day of cows milk formula, he practically fell of his chair saying dairy is the worse thing in the world and gives chidren glue ear/asthma/skin problems etc and that we should never give children 'cows excreasion' (sp?)

Anyhow....

He recommended Soya formula, anyone on this?, or heard anything good or bad about it? She tolerates her normal formula fine... but don't want to give her glue ear..

Thankyou!

Soy formula isnt recommended for babies under 6 months. I wouldnt worry about the cows milk and glue ear thing, theres thousands of babies out there on normal formula who dont have glue ear. Just because they have formula doesnt mean they will have ear problems. The only concern I have with cows milk formula is allergies, but thats only cos we have a history of it.

ditto on that...when we gave him soy due to not being able to find the other stuff..(long story) everyone told us how bad it was (except Plunket) having too many hormones and those with cows milk allergy if given soy too early 25% end up with allergy to that too...my tin said 'is not suitable for general use and should be used under medical supervision' umm i was like what...healthline said dont do it(soy unless there was no other option)..plunket nurse said to(but shes been quite useless:( so i transferred)

emma he sounds very bizarre...:(

Have you tried Goats Milk formula? I have Lauren on just one bottle of formula a day (all other feeds are b/f) and have gone with Goats Milk and her exzema has become alot less aggrevated. Not sure if it is anything to do with the formula as she is also very alergic to apple, but I have been receommended Goats Milk by numerous people. It is alot more expensive though.

ETA bad spelling!
