My DD has now decided that it would a great idea to start rolling onto her tummy in her cot before going to sleep!
I would leave her but I don't really want too and she makes such a racket I have to go in, she has spent the last 10 mins on her front making lots of wonderful noises! We only use a sleeping bag, no wedges etc. How do I stop it? (If I can) |

Tom did that too (still does), I wouldnt mind if I knew he would happily go to sleep but he doesnt and then he gets upset. He hasnt worked out to turn his head so he just buries it in the mattress and then obviuosly cant breathe and gets upset. At least I know he knows when he cant breathe. But I wont stop using my angelcare monitor as a result.
I just end up going in through the night when I hear his characteristic moan and turning him back over |

You could always try using a Safety Sleep, but we found that even this didn't stop DD turning over when she wanted to! She was about the same age as well, and we were fortunate in that she had great head control and so it didn't present us with any major issues. ------------- Mama to two earth walkers & two angels. When Ella started doing this, I popped her in a safe T sleep and she stopped doing it........for a while, and then figured how to roll while in it ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

Tom can roll in his SS and even turn 180 degrees (so his head is at the foot of his bed) all the while still strapped in

Thomas houdinied out of his safety sleep straight away, I have given up, sometimes he rolls over and sleeps on his tummy but he does turn his head to the side and I check him regularly. T only does it in day time, I dont think there is anything you can do! ------------- http://lilypie.com">

thanks guys! Yeh, I kinda thought there wasn't much I could do, will just have to make sure she is quite tired before putting her down.

Sam started doing this at around 6-7 months and I just left her to it. We are big fans of free sleeping in our household
We do have the angelcare monitor though so I would have known if she had any problems. Really so long as she is turning her head to the side and not laying directly on it she should be fine. Sam is still doing it now but has graduated to usually sleeping on her knees with her bum in the air and ankles crossed - awwww  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

IMO a baby that old is perfectly safe enough to sleep on her tummy if she can roll there in the first place - it indicates good head control. I wouldn't try to control it now, else you'll just have to wean her off that support later. -------------  |

I wasnt too worried about tom...it was more that he got so frustrated and I would go in to find him totally buggered trying to keep his head up and whimpering to himself Little bugger could crawl and stand up before he could roll front to back
