Toddler tantrums - at the age of 13 months?

So to cut a long story short here we were in Farmers searching out some warm jumpers ...Lucas decides he no longer wants to stay in the pram and starts SCREAMING! SO I get him out and attempt to carry him on my hip and pusht he pram, he gets bored of that after 5 mins and keeps trying to slip down, so I decided to take the plunge and let him walk to his hearts desire ...uh-oh BIG MISTAKE!

Next min he's taking off across the shop like a tornado, ripping clothes off of the racks and headed straight for the toys, meanwhile I'm chasing after him with a pram and arm full of clothes lol ...he decides to start re-arranging the shelves and sets his eye on a playskool truck that he won't let go off ...so you can pretty much guess what happens next...

I try to clean up quickly without making too big of a scene, he starts getting grouchy and hitting me/shouting (this he never usually does...the look on his face was pure evil) ...then I try to pick him up and put the truck back and he starts SCREAMING the shop down and throwing his head back. Almost impossible to pick him up, he made it sound like I was hurting him ...everyone was watching argh. I had to go to the counter and hand all the clothes over and say I didn't want them. Kid in one arm screaming blue murder, TRYING to steer the pram with other hand.

Now I can sympathize with all you Mummies that experience the same thing, and to think I was once one of THOSE people that turned my nose up at the sight of a mother with no control over her kid.

Are they seriously suppose to start THIS EARLY????

Lol ...I too have vowed NEVER AGAIN unless Mum or someone else is with me. He's sooo heavy to drag out of a shop on my own whilst pushing a pram.

He's an angel at home though, unless he doesn't get his way ...but I assume thats normal.

Oh yeah, Michaela started throwing tantys early too. The book I'm reading atm (toddler taming tips by Dr Christopher Green) says that "toddlerhood" (aka terrible twos) actually starts around 12 mo, builds up around 18mo, hits a peak at 2yo then gradually eases by 2 1/2yo. That's certainly what's happened for us so far... I'm hoping the easing off is the same.

yup Rhyley has tantrum - they are short lived right now but sure he will 'master the art' of them sooner or later... hes my first trantrum thrower - even my girl who was a madam was not a tantrum thrower.

God, that is exactly what Olivia used to do. My secret? Have a bag stocked full of treats and leave her in the push chair. If she gets too much leave the store!
