What sort of pressure did you feel on your cervix? And where did you feel your movements and stuff?

Tonight Ive been having some major pressure on my cervix with some stabbing pains and it makes me need to wee like right away. It felt like his head/bum was right there.

I will find out tomorrow if he has turned round or not, but Ive been sititng here trying to figure out myself what way round he might be.
I can feel kicks in my sides and lots of thumping down low, but not a lot of movement up the top except the odd hard lump.

Im not looking forward to having this ECV if he is still breech..

Do you think he might be turning? Jack turned at 34 weeks and it was incredibly uncomfortable.

As for feelings, it depends what sort of breech they are. Jack was transverse (straight across pretty much with bum down low) and I used to get his bum poking up every once in a while, 1 foot on my left side (the other was tucked away) and hands on the top right part of my belly. I was told that with breech, if you look at your bump it should be bigger around the bottom part of your bump as thats where the bum is, whereas with normal pregnancies at the later stages the top part is on a sharper angle as the head sort of disappears where its supposed to go.

Only 5 weeks to go now... so exciting!

He might be(he was breech at my last appointment 2 weeks ago)...I dont really know though cos he is such a wiggle bum, but I always get this big bump that stick out heaps by my belly button, sometimes on the left soemtimes on the right, and then I'll have like sharp prods in my sides(ouch!)
My bump is actually bigger at the bottom....hmmm

Im also feeling lots of pressure in my bum not nice

Oh sheza! Has your midwife got you doing any movements or exercises to try and turn him? Hopefully tomorrow will have good news for you and he is head down for you!
I have most of my movement at the top of my belly, under my boobs.
Hope the pressure etc eases up a bit and you have a good nights sleep!

Yeap ive been doing the exercises on my hands and knees, I cleaned out my car Saturday in the hopes all the bending would turn him.
I have like no movement by my boobs its all down low...(except for the hard lump i feel up high sometimes)
Its not sounding good so far lol

With Spencer I would get what felt like grinding pains in my pelvis and then sometimes what felt like an electric shock up the jacksy. Movements I felt everywhere. He was the type of breach where his bum was engaged and his head and feet were under my ribs, he came out sucking his toes...lol. If you press down at the top of your bump you may be able to feel the head, it will be very hard compared to anything else of the baby that you can feel.
Doing the downward dog (yoga move) gives baby more room to help them turn or just being on hands and knees if downward dog makes you feel faint.
Good luck tomorrow, hopefully he has turned and that is a head engaged.

I hear ya on the electric shock pain! Ive been getting that in my cervix quite bad tonight.
I also get a grinding feeling aswell...and the movements do feel like the are more "all over" than one or two particular spots.

Just pressed on top of bump and yep definitly something hard there

when my bub was transverse i was recommended a site called spinning babies... it has a very interesting bit on mapping where your baby is lying going by movements etc.

you might find it useful..

oh and the hard bit could be a bum...

Josh was breech and i had no idea he was in the perfect position and then flipped a couple of days before i had him. Poor midwife got one hell of a fright when i was fully dilated and she felt a foot she scans every woman as soon as they arrive at the hospital in labor now. So it is possible for baby to keep flipping around.

Yay the last few weeks how exciting (and uncomfy) for you. Hey you might be lucky like me and have baby 2 weeks early

Oh and after he turned i had a lot of pressure under my ribs but he was feet down pushing his head up into my rib cage (probably what caused my waters to break). Here is a pic of my belly the day i went into labor and i dont think i looked bigger low down.

I dont really have any pressure under my ribs except when the "hard bit" is pushing under them. At the moment its all squishy up by my ribs lol.
You had Josh naturally did you wrxchic? Man your a legend! lol

Deb- Im actually wondering whether he has turned tranverse cos of the weird movements Ive been getting up my sides..

heres my belly tonight-im not sure if the shape of it means anything..

Yeah he was natural but remembering it now it really didn't seem that bad it was so quick there wasnt really time to be a legend he was just coming out then and there. Then again i cant really compare his birth to one with the baby right way round as i havent experienced that so maybe next time round (provided baby is head down) im hoping it will seem like a breeze hahaha

I did the belly mapping thing but Im confused now lol. Oh well i guess i will find out tomorrow what way round the lil monkey is!

In my (not so) professional opinion lol yours has the same shape as mine did when Jack was breech.

Although, looking again, do you think you've dropped? It kinda looks like it me from your previous pics. Hopefully Caden is just being a naughty wee boy and will turn eventually. Are you having ECV at 37 or 38 weeks? Or maybe sooner?

Had midwife today and she isnt 100% sure if he is still breech. She said she is thinking 50/50 so Im having a scan on Thursday to double check his position and if he is breech then I will have a ECV at 37 weeks I think.

Sheza you look like you're carrying the same as I was (but then it was my first baby so I'd be hard pressed to tell you what a non breech bump looked like).

I didn't get too many pains down low. The big bump I had by my belly button was her bum and then I had another bump under my ribs which was her head. Couldn't bend over at all by the end of it.

With the ECV remember it is your choice - you don't have to have one. If you want one great but don't be pressured by MW/OBs/Hospital etc.

I hope he's turned for you or if not isn't transverse. Little monkey!

Edit: Here's me at 33 weeks if it helps to compare. I popped out a bit more like you by the end but unfortunately those photos are with a friend so I can't show you them.

Im a bit worried now!

My MW thinks he might be head down but she isnt 100% sure, but tonight when I was driving to the supermarket he did this horendous "flip" I had my hand on my tummy and I felt him do a 360! It hurt like a mother!!! After that I had a definite lump up by my ribs! Soooo he may have been head down and now he isnt....
Scan will tell me though,

Im not sure about this ECV thing, it looks really painful and stuff....

I think they give you something to help relax your muscles so it doesn't hurt so much.

It's good news if he can flip though - even if he flipped around the wrong way. Means that they probably can turn him back just as easily. He's probably got lots of fluid to help him.

Can you talk to someone independent about it? My MW got an OB to talk to me - gave me the pros and cons of it and was very independent. Definitely didn't sway me one way or the other. But it was good to talk to someone in the know to figure out what was fact and what was fiction.

Edit to add: I know this is stressful for you. I'm sure it will all work out ok though.

I was so hopeful that I would know for sure today if he had turned but I have to wait till Thursday for my scan now, so i get to stress over it for another day and night lol

Its o hard not knowing whats going on in there

Dont stress about it what will happen will happen there isnt alot you can do to change it. They turn some babies and the flip back again anyways. Either way you will end up with a baby.

I didn't know Spencer was breech until my waters had broke and I was in labour and then all of a sudden they were talking about c/s and then about a hundred people came in the room talking to me about millions of things and stabbing IV's into my arms (they couldn't get it in and kept stabbing me everywhere).
Now that really freaked me out and luckily for me my labour stopped and it didn't happened there and then and I had some time to get my head around the fact that I would have a c/s, I had stupidly assumed that i wouldn't.

So what I am trying to say is yes it is very stressful but it's also great that your midwife is so on to it and is sending you for the scan to be sure. If I was you I would look closely into the ECV (they refused to do one on me as my waters had ruptured and they were worried that they might get him sideways and my waters go and again and be in a worse situation) look into birthing a breech baby, I was given the option but strongly advised not to take it and after looking into it a bit and my individual situation I decided not to try it, and also look into c/s. I thought having a c/s was the worse case scenario but actually although it was by no means a walk in the park it also wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and at the end of the day Spencer arrived safe and healthy and I was still safe and healthy too.

Good luck for the scan and I hope he has flipped head down for you.

Thanks Marisa

I said to my midwife that either way I just want him here safe and I want me to be safe. Im just a bit stressed with not knowing at the moment, once I know either way I'll feel better lol

We cant do my birth plan until we know what way round he is either, I have all the info to read for when we DO do it, but until we know we cant "plan" anything.

Yeah I will have the ECV if I need to, my midwife also said there is only a few ppl she would trust sending me to so she is very on to it, I love my midwife she is SO lovely! She has made me feel a heap better about all this.

Scan is at 11am tomorrow so I will update tomorrow evening as Im taking my lil brother out shopping for his birthday! He will be at the scan so will get to see his nephew, he is quite excited! He is VERY excited about being an uncle lol, so cute He has just turned 17.

Lucky i didnt even get to do my birth plan i was suppose to go through it with the midwife at my appointment friday arvo and josh arrived very early that morning hehehe.

Thats so lucky cuppatea Josh was on his way out when they realised it was a foot not a head. They were preping me for a c/s but i wouldnt have made it to the theatre so out he came feet first. i blame his dad for giving him bad directions and for going away for the weekend Josh was obviously annoyed he was left behind and missing out on the drag racing. To be honest i didnt have time to be scared i was that busy asking for drugs when they told me i might need a c/s i thought just my luck but will someone get this bloody thing out now!!!

With my birth plan Im not really thinking of it as a "Plan" its more...a little list of things Id "like" to happen. Im just keeping an open mind about everything, so that I wont be disapointed if it doesnt go to plan.

If I have to have a c section then I guess there isnt much i can plan anyways, but I definitly want DF there next to me though...and I dont want my arms strapped down(ive heard they do that somtimes!).
So yeah, they will do it at middlemore then transfer me to Pukekohe maternity the next day or that night I guess.

-------------

Posted By: cuppatea
Date Posted: 07 May 2008 at 3:36pm
Normally they don't transfer for at least 24 hours after a c/s.
There are still things you can plan like having kangaroo cuddles while they stitch you up, whether you want to try breastfeeding straight away (well as soon as out of theatre) and that sort of thing. The still offered for DH to cut the cord as well, it had been cut but he would have cut it a bit shorter I think and he got to go over with Spencer whilst he was weighed, cleaned up and checked out etc and then he carried him over and gave him to me which was quite nice. So all those sorts of things can be "planned".
My arms weren't strapped down but I could only use one of them, one had the iv in and had to stay where it was and the other had the bp thing round it so I could move it enough to hold Spencer but that was all.

Hope it went well this afternoon, cool that you get to see him on the scan again.

i didnt find out till the next day when DP finally arrived and mum was talkin about my labour that Josh was a little touch and go when he arrived i knew this BP dropped and i had to push really hard to get him out quick when he was half way out. I dont know how long it was until they gave him to me i was just relieved he was out then that i could hear him but they did give him to me when i was being stitched up and i had him on me for ages.

O bum! I've been stalking waiting for news lol. Yeah at the end of the day whats important is healthy bubs and healthy mum. I was lucky enough not to have c-sect in the end as they had to wait until my BP went up (was dangerously low) and by that time I'd magically been able to dilate enough to push yay.

Hope you had/are having fun shopping with your lil bro!
