Hi

I need ideas please

My mother is turning 60 in August. I'm trying to plan a nice day and evening for her, without it costing me the earth.

Mum is a basic sort of a lady, she's not into fancy things, as long as she has her family around her, she's happy.

I've convinced her to go out for dinner with the family. She has suggest Cobb and Co, as the food is 'normal'. There will be the immediate family (including grandchildren) and I'm also secretly invited her favourite sister (and her husband and son).

I will organise a cake, that we can have at the restaurant.

During the day, her sister, mum and I will go and have a facial. I know if I just get mum a voucher for a facial, that she will never go - that's why I should really have one with her

My SIL is a photographer, so we are getting a nice photo taken of all the grandchildren put on to canvas for her.

But, I'm needing ideas on how to make her day even more special, with little things that don't cost too much. Or ideas on what we can do whilst at dinner.....

Any ideas would be muchly appreciated. Mum would have to be the hardest person to do anything for, as she really isn't into anything fancy.

Thanks heaps!

For my mum's 50th we put together a slideshow type thing of pics from all through her life - old baby pics, school pics, wedding, that sort of thing. They were scanned and put on a dvd with background music (using music she liked). We had it playing on repeat during the party, but ultimately she got to keep it to watch any time. She loved it.

Maybe you could do something similar and watch it with her sometime during the day?

OO thats a wicked idea! I might borrow that one for my nana! 65 this year she is..
This is a real tough one tho! Hmm.. Are there any special people form her past that she may not have seen for awhile? You could get in contact and see if they wanted to surpirse her?? Granted that might take awhile..
