If we have a girl we want to name her Chelsea (maybe spelt Chelsey though, haven't decided - have to get pregnant first haha) so that's my favourite :)
Chelsea Elliot sounds cool too!

Thanks for all your thoughts. Middle name is to be Jay and surname is Surtees so names would be
Chelsea Jay Surtees or
Elliot Jay Surtees
Both can be shortened CJ or Elle. It has been Chelsea for months as we simply couldn't agree on anything else but we heard Elliot the other day and both kinda liked it. Our eldest son has taken to Elliot (I think it's more fun to say) but I'm struggling with the idea of change (although better now than later).
As for spelling of either of them we'll play around with that one later...better choose a name first

I vote Elliot - I think it will be a beautiful name not only for a wee girl but also for a grown woman.
Chelsea makes me think of the bun (sorry )
And Elle would be a cool shortened version of it too.

But Elliot is lovely. It's nice to have something different.
I'd be disappointed if you changed the spelling though - I'm a stickler for that kind of thing
Having said that, to "girlify" it, I think perhaps "Eliot" would be pretty
GOOD LUCK!!

Chelsea seems to be getting the majority of votes
I agree with Bobbie that Elliot is a lovely grown up name. But when we found out we were having a girl I had wanted a girly name as we've already got 2 boys and my kids are bald for quite a while (or simply soo blond you can't see any hair they many have managed to grow) so we'd get the "what a lovely boy" , nothing a bit of pink can't fix I guess

Personally I much prefer Elliot (think Elliot from Scrubs). Chelsea to me seems a wee bit Footballers Wives - no offence to anyone!
I'm with Charly too, normal spellings only. Friends of mine have unusual spellings and it does their heads in constantly having to correct people.

I prefer Elliot! If Chelsea, I prefer spelling it Chelsey.
Isla (eye-la) has a name that is forever going to be said/spelt wrongly, *opps*,..and Im sure it will be a curse cos it already annoys me!
|
Posted By: emz
Date Posted: 19 May 2008 at 12:44pm
People can't pronounce Isla Kellz? Seriously?
On the bald front, sorry even if you dress her entirely in pink people will still call her a boy (experience from a girl that was bald (well I had fuzz) until 3 1/2!

I totally love the name elliot for a girl and yeah if your worried about people thinking she is a boy then just call her elle when people ask. I think its such a cool name for a girl.
|

Yep Isla gets said Is-la and Eyes-la,..or people avoid saying her name and say "her" or "baby" instead cos they dunno how to say it! I always feel like saying " Do u say Is-land? No! its Island,..so why do u say Is-la?!!" Lol!

Emz but until it was pointed out to me i didn't know it wasn't is-la...I'd never heard of it until i saw the lady on Home and Away.. This is why we called our baby a nice easy to spell name..but you would be surprised how many people get me to spell Ethan and Fox:)

Chelsea still seems to be dominating but not to such the same scale.
As suggested I tried yelling the name and prefered to yell Elliot. Not sure whether this means she'll be more subsceptible to being growled as it's more fun or not, lol

Out of the 2 I prefer Chelsea though.

yeah, some people (usually old people) just don't get it... When Seb was very little (and dressed in blue/green) I would get told what a lovely little girl he is... and what's his name "Sebastian" Oh that's so pretty. I wonder if the poor thing was a little lost... it's not exactly a modern name either.
