Okay, i have asthma, and these are some things my parents did for me:

hot shower - i would sit in the bathroom while they ran a hot bath or shower. the steam can help decongest.

Baby vicks - it's lovely, eucalyptus, lavender and something else.

Tripillow and I slept more upright than usual. Makes sleeping a bit difficult, but also I could sleep and breathe at the same time...what a novelty!!

If you don't want to put the Baby Vicks on his skin you can put it on his singlet instead too and the vapours help clear it up. Also, a spoon full of adult vicks in a mug of boiling water put in his bedroom when he goes to bed (out of his reach of course!) works like a vaporiser.
We're lucky Maya doesn't have asthma (often comes with allergies like hers) but she did have croup once which is when I did the vicks thing.
Yay about the birthday layby!

Maya had the redipred (sp?) when she had the croup and it made an amazing difference.
Good on James getting moving! Look out Lu - it all goes downhill from here

hehe sure does -funny we spend so long anxious for them to walk and talk-now i wish caitlyn would sit down and shutup lol

Putting toys on layby is a really good idea lu esp if ur single-or havent won the lotto this week - u can get really good pressies and pay them off each week without being a stress-i do that with every birthday and christmas for caitlyn

hope james is improving, its really hard having to deal with asthma in children. my 3 year old has it too, and was admitted to hospital heaps last year, but so far under control now, with her daily preventer and asthma action plan, but when her asthma does get bad, for some reason i feel like a terrible mum, and i dont deal with it so well, at least hubby is a great support. i totally know how you feel. as for the layby.... great idea! we have layby'd a few things for our girls, its great. helps out i reckon.
and yay! how exciting about him rolling over! and crawling! wow!

take care!!!

i was about to ask the same question rachel.
i have asthma and jack does get quite wheezy when he has colds. so far he's not too bad though.
he also gets excema (sp?) and usually they go hand in hand. poor boy, got all the good stuff from his mummy

Kobe gets bronchialitis (spelling??) which they keep treating as asthma but wont diagnose it officially until he is two. They said they will either grow out of it then or it will become full on asthma yet my neice was diagnosed at 1 with asthma. Funny how everyone gets different info aye.
