We were relaxing on the couch when this big (it was huge, ginormous, furry and mostly black) bee flew up from behind the other couch and started buzzing around the room. I ran out of the room immediately and shut the door, luckily I had enough wits about me to grab Michaela on the way out.

I was sooo frightened you should have seen how far I jumped when I got a text and my phone buzzed.

Help, I hate them. Anyone in the Welly region want to come and play exterminator for me? I'll pay you in kindness.

I'm so scared of bees it's actually comical (but only in hindsight) and it is for good reason since I'm allergic.

I went back in to try and shoo the bee outside but I can't find it now so I've sprayed the room with bugspray and closed the door.

I hope it will be safe to go back in soon, I have most of a bottle of wine in there and I really need a drink. Plus that's the only warm room in the house atm.

Hehe I'm allergic too and so would do the same thing. Is it a bumble bee or definitely a normal bee? Could be a queen if it's a huge normal one?

I would come and save you but a) it's now 3/4 of an hour later and b) I live a bit of a drive away.

Good luck!

I dunno, I didn't think to ask. How can you tell. It was huge and mostly black and I wasn't interested in getting any closer to find out more.

You sure you don't want to come? I think it may still be in there but I'm too scared to do a thorough search and have been hiding in the cold spare room instead (well, not really hiding.. was talking on the phone and doing my shopping and have since gone in there to get my wine... but still).

Haha.. just curious. I know Bumble Bees do have a a stinger but I don't know if it's the same stuff that a honey bee produces that we're allergic to?

F%^$#@!! Pepsi. I just refreshed and there was this massive bee on my screen. Talk about give me a fright.

It was furry (quite obviously from a distance) so definitely more like the the top one but it was mostly black - that's a bit weird aye. It was also heaps bigger than either of those.

I hate bees and I'm not allergic.. In fact I hate all bugs *cringe*
We have a rather large BLACK common house spider living in our kitchen and the kids give me crap about it all the time

Good luck and I hope you find an exterminator

DH is my hero

Before he got home I bravely ventured into the lounge to tidy up and while doing so found the bee next to the TV. I was going to put a glass on top of it but I was too scared.

DH got home about 10 mins later and skillfully used a piece of paper to put the bee in a glass then let it outside

I did get told off though. He said I was cruel, that I should have sprayed the bee when I found it next to the tv "but it was still alive" "yes, but it was dying because you'd sprayed the room earlier".

I did feel a tiny twinge of guilt but then again, I've seen The Bee Movie I know they're mad at us for stealing their honey, who knows what it would have done for revenge. I did what I had to do.

I don't mind little spiders but I don't know if I could live with a huge spider inside.

We did have a massive pet tunnel web spider outside for a little while though, I'll see if I can find the photos and post them for you.
