LOL at the rusks necklace!
We got one of these for DD1 when she was about 15 months old, so had the first eight front teeth (bottom and top). I am a total skeptic but thought they looked cool and so figured if it didn't work I wouldn't mind her wearing one anyway.
Five months down the track, I have to admit I think it has had some effect. I'm still skeptical - I'm hard to convince! But she has definitely been calmer with her teething and not as upset and grumpy. Teething still isn't her greatest time, but it's a milder version of what she was doing, if that makes sense? I don't know if that's because she's older and dealing with it better anyway, or if the teeth coming through now are less painful (although they are her eye teeth and molars, so I wouldn't think so). But she's happier most of the time, so I'm planning on getting one for DD2. I bought ours off Ruski1 (think that's the name) off Trade Me for $25 I think. It is a good length - not too long.

Lauren teethed with no problems at all and she was wearing one. Whether it was because of the necklace or not, who knows, but it also looks quite funky and cute!
Most people I know totally swear by them, infact nearly my whole coffee group has them now and we had some very skeptical ladies!!
Have a look at the Organic Island Baby website, they are based on Waiheke Island.

We have one, and I dont really know how much of a difference it has made, but he definatley dribbles less when he is wearing it.
Its important that they arent long enough for them to put them in their mouths, look for ones with individually knotted beads (that way if it does break, then there is only the risk of one bead being swallowed / lost)
Check out http://www.chookmook.co.nz - www.chookmook.co.nz - I would be really careful about buying one from TM, as the quality and fixings can be a bit dodgey sometimes. Jacinta (chookmook) makes them herself and the quality is fantastic. She makes to order and we got ours within about 4 days!
At the end of the day, we are all for trying it - and even if it doesnt work, he looks like such a dude wearing it!!

$55 .....what the?
Umm is there no way these can be chewed to the point where they break and the beads are swallowed?

We have one and love it! Sam has just cut two molars and I didn't even know and trust me before the necklace she was NOT a good teether!!!
I got mine off a lady in Kaitaia on Trade Me for $24 and it is the real thing and gorgeous so not all TM buys are rubbish. It is knotted between every bead and came with a guarantee that it was genuine baltic amber.

M2L, the necklaces are not long enough for them to get them in their mouths, they sit under the chin. Lauren has not even touched her one when its on and she doesn't even know its there!
Each little bead is attached and knotted on as M2S said. If one came off (I very much doubt it though) there is no way any others would come off as they are made pretty damn well!!
Laurens one was only $40.

Mum2Lucas - they shouldnt be able to get them in their mouths to chew them. If they can then its the wrong size!! O doesnt even know his is there either - never even touchs it!
I personally wouldnt buy one from TM, mainly because you cant guarentee the quality. They need to be good baltic amber.

Thanks for clearing that up Peachy & SimSam (sorry I don't know your names ...)
Oh I like the sound of these necklaces, it's been a LONG day here with on/off screaming. Top eye teeth are finally coming through. And to think they are only number's 5 & 6.
Think I might invest in one of these. I googled them, any brands/online shops you recommend?
ETA: Was concerned re: the chewing because my boy is very funny when it comes to hats/anything around or on/near his head or face ...not sure if he would be totally oblivious to the fact that he was wearing a necklace ...

We take ours off DD1 when she bathes and has a nap/goes down for the night. It's more of a safety thing than anything - the instructions we got with it advised this as well.
I had the seller on TM that we bought off recommended to me by several people as a good one to buy off - I trusted their recommendations and the necklace I have arrived very promptly and is of high quality, the same as many others I've seen. She's had fantastic feedback and the fact that she was recommended seems a good indicator that the necklaces are genuine. So not all TM dealers are dodgy!

Anyssa doesn't know she is wearing hers either. She has been less grizzly since wearing it. She wakes in the morning with red cheeks and about an hour after putting the necklace on her cheeks aren't red.
I got mine off TM for $24 from Kaitaia too - last night DP was taping it on his tooth (testing if it was plastic) and one of the beads split in half it is individually tied, so other beads won't fall off, but I am less than impressed.

I got R's from Organic Island Baby and it was only $30
R wears his all the time (apart from naps and sleeps). I think it has really helped with his teething. Looks really cute too

I ordered one from Ruskki1 on TM on Monday afternoon, and it arrived today! Very impressed, that was so quick! Necklace looks great - I have nothing to compare it to, but it seems to be great quality! I'm really impressed with the service!

Yeah Harry has been going nuts with dribbling and chewing on things lately (even more so than usual) so I think I should get around to getting one... am interested in feedback too!
ETA: did anyone get one from Organic Island Baby? I'm just looking at the website and they look quite big on the baby and I'm wondering what they're like for size...

I got one of trade me for Rohann, and I'm pretty sure it is making a difference, she doesn't seem to fuss the same way she did before we got it. But at the end of the day I figure anything is worth a go!
