I am beside myself with frustration. For the last couple of weeks Liam's day sleeps have turned to complete custard. Yesterday he had a total of 30 mins from 7.30am to bedtime... 
Today so far, has been a total nightmare & he hasn't slept a wink. He's in bed but is screaming. I just don't know what to do. I know he's tired because he fell asleep when I was feeding him (but that was over an hour ago now). I don't think he's sick or anything as he always seems happy when I go in & if I pick him up. Plunket nurse told me that babies his age should still be having 3 naps a day but that sure ain't happening in this house. I really hope this is just a short-lived phase otherwise my marbles will be lost 
Any suggestions most welcome but this is mostly just to get it off my chest. -------------

| Go spend a day in your local plunket family centre. It will give you a bit of time out. They can watch what happens when it comes to his day sleeps and give advice. You will feel waaaay better for it believe me. I went there for 2 days and just having that support was what I really needed. |

Your poor things, I was having similar problems with Blair, and after seeking help, whilst waiting for my referal to come thru if he fell asleep on me, would stay put and wait for him to wake - I would just make sure I had supplies (food/drink/blanket and the remote) nearby. I ended up getting help with his sleep from a local centre, tough going at first but tends to have worked

Have you had his ears checked? Kylah done this and it was only when i lay her in bed she started screaming, wouldnt sleep and then screamed because she was overtired. Turned out she had an ear infection in both ears! ------------- ~ Mummy to a beautiful girl ~ |

The thought has crossed my mind Kandice but wouldn't he have any other symptoms such as refusing to drink & a temp etc?? -------------

Not necessarily though you would think so. I have heard of stoic little buggers soldiering on happily through the day and turning to demons at night when you lay them flat as that hurts their ears the most. Doesnt hurt to get it checked |

He's ok at night it's just the day sleeps that are so problematic. Thanks girls, this might be worth a trip to the doc b/c I want my happy little sleeping man back  -------------

| I hate to say it but I have a suspicion it is a 5 month thing. Tom did something similar and has only just gone back to good day sleeps in the last month. but now we get 2 sleeps of 2-3 hours....BLISS!!! |

Oh no nzpiper  that's not what I wanted to hear!! 2-3 hour sleeps sound wonderful so I'll hold onto that thought  .
DH will be home soon so I might hop in the bath for a bit of a chill out -------------

Sally - Rowan's doing this as well some days she just will NOT go down even though she's exhausted.
Not two days in a row thankfully but she's 5 months as well so.... you must be exhausted. Hope you get some time out this evening.-------------

Actually Sally just thinking about it - one thing I've done which seems to help is toss her feeding routine out the window and pretty much let her demand feed as she's been drinking HEAPS lately.
Is he feeding well? Maybe it's a growth spurt. -------------

He is feeding as he usually does except for the last 2 feeds today he wasn't too interested in .
Tomorrow is a new day & I'm going to eat some of the choc fudge I made then hit the sack. -------------
