I was sent this really interesting video clip - its about 20mins long, but its entertaining and thought prevoking (or at least I think it is).

I've seen this so many times in PD (prof development) sessions and at college. I don't believe so, being a recent graduate I can tell you that today's method of teaching is all about holistic development and inquiry learning, with individual learning programmes set out for each child. I guess it does depend on the teacher though - some of the ones that went through 20-30 years ago are apparently so far out of line with what the goals are for kids these days they would be made redundant if the schools actually could.
