Scared sh*tless.

Lol. Scuse the french, but it's true!

After a year of insurance claim denials, junior doctors strikes and the public waiting list in general.

Anyway... just needed to vent my nervousness (first ever op an all...) even though it's pretty minor surgery.

I do have a question though for bigger ladies who have had a laporoscopy.....

I got told by my surgeon that they may not be able to remove any of the endo (if they find it) because my tummy is too big. Anyone had any experience with this? They only told me a couple of weeks ago, so have been worrying about it.

Not to crash your forum Lou, but I too are interested in hearing from anyone that has had laproscopic surgery.  How long does it take to recover, how will I feel after surgery, what are the scars like etc etc.

I hope it all went well today booweeza!

Sunny - it took me a couple of weeks and I was tired and sore, but as long as you take it easy you get back on your feet pretty quickly. I took a week off work, but because of my job, I probably should have taken 2.

The scars are nothing! Just little snicks and barely noticable.

Cool thanks Ginger.  So you are generally up on your feet fairly quickly after the procedure? (I am having removal of Endo and a Cyst)

I had endo removal and was back on my feet again the next day - although rather gingerly (hehe ) - you'll need to make sure you have some help for a few days because your abdominal muscles will be cut through, and you'd be surprised what becomes hard to do (like rolling over).

Hey everyone!

I'm back and it's FINALLY confirmed.
Stage 2 endo really deep in my pelvis. Also did a D&C as my uterus was a bit 'heavy'. And the good news was that they were able to remove the endo! Yay, my tummy musn't be too big. Hehe.

Not feeling too bad, only need a couple of codeine when I woke up at 3.30 pm and haven't needed anything since. To be honest... I only feel like I'm having pre-period cramps. Perhaps I will feel worse tomorrow. Lol. Fingers crossed that I don't!

My biggest complaint at the moment is my throat. Bloody sore and losing my voice from the breathing tube thingy. Lol.

Sunny, I have 4 wee incisions, so far they don't look too bad, but I will let you know how they heal up over the next little while. I actually want to go to class tomorrow... lol. But I'll see how I feel in the morning.
Oh and yep, I was up and about once I wasn't so groggy, so only about a couple of hours later. Surgery was at 1.30, finished at 3.30 and I was able to go home at 7pm.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone *HUGS*

I am glad it went well.

I was up and walking after mine within a few hours both times. First time I only had 2 cuts and the second 4 cuts.

Kepp an eye on the cuts as the belly button one likes to get infected , mine did both times.

YAY! Glad to hear the op went well and they fixed you up

Just make sure you take those charchol tablets I sent you! Day 2 is when the trapped air pain kicks in under your diaphram and shoulders OUCH!!!!! (that was the worst bit of the whole op! )

Yep, it's definately the gas that is causing the most pain.

Last night was horrible sleeping... because I can only sleep on my stomach. And everytime I lay down on my back, the gas in my shoulder and diaphragm would get worse. Had to change sides every hour. Was horrible. Much easier to be up and about and moving around...hurts less. I said to DH in the wee smalls.... Is 4am too early to get up? Lol

Thanks again for the charcoal tablets Toni! Going to be knocking them back today, thats for sure.

hope those tablets work for you lou......glad they managed to get it out.....yay!!!!!    rest up and take it easy hun

Hiya Sunny
Toni sent me the Activated Charcoal tablets (brand is Red Seal) - Meant to help clear GI impurities etc. Seems to help shift the trapped gas.... which BOY is hurting today. Man, I can barely lift my right arm. *Cry*

Anyhoo... here's a funny pic... me a couple of hours after surgery. Hehe. (looking a tad pale!)

Lol. thanks!
When are you having surgery Sunny? I could pass on the charcoal tablets when I'm done with them. Since Toni was so kind in sending them to me, I should pay them foward. Lol.

Toni, how long would you say the pain from the gas should last?

For me the gas pain was pretty bad for a few days and had pretty much gone after a week.

Sounds like it went well Lou. Must be a relief to have it diagnosed and all removed as well! What did they mean by you having a "heavy" uterus?

Busymum, in other words, I needed a good cleaning out as I don't get regular periods. There was a lot of blood in there. I was quite suprised because I've had periods for the past two months. But before that I hadn't had one in ages.
