Possibly, depends how much hassle it was and how much of an impact that $100 would make in the grand scheme of things and how good the service was between the 2 companies.

Probably, Im a tight arse.

depends - at the moment we are with contact and we get the prompt payment because we use a direct debit of $40 a week. If another power compnay had the same deal, but cheaper, I'd be in! should ring around!

Probably not if everything went was going well with your current company. My other thought was there might be $100 difference in it now but who's to say it will stay like that.

If I had the choice, I would!!! Unfortunately in SA we only have one power supplier and at the moment things are not going well.... we don't have enough power to support the whole country and the last few months have been hectic with power cuts or "load shedding" it is no fun having a baby who needs a bottle and you don't have electricity to warm one up but you have paid your electricity bill... scary stuff!

I would! We're tight here too. We just signed up to a 2-year deal with contact and locked in the same rate so we won't have any surprises with hikes in power. Plus we got $25 off our first bill yay

Lizzle - everyone gets the prompt payment with most companies as long as you pay it before the due date. Don't think it matters if you pay weekly or monthly.

I would and have. We save about $20-40 a month by having switched from Contact to Energy Direct which isn't really much but any saving is good. Even if it was $10 a month I'd still switch.. our rates are locked in for the next 2 years so thats really cool. We get the prompt payment discount too.

Nah I wouldn't...more likely to just not waste power.

I'd change if the power company had more renewable energy sources AND you saved $100 per year.

for a hundy?  Yep, I would change companies.

Be wary though, we changed for an ever-so-slightly cheaper rate following a targetted ad campaign (letters sent to customers of their competitors saying 'here are our rates, and sign up with us and get a free magazine sub for a year")... so we did because it was cheaper, and the free read was just a bonus, but 6 months later they send a letter out saying their rates are going up - higher than our original ones.

Ugh, this was my job for almost 2 years, a telemarketer trying to get people to change! It was good too, at the start, when people were actually saving money.

Probably not for only $100 a year. Maybe if it was $20-30  a month that might help.

I am going to soon as worked out Trustpower is the most expensive company and with all the discounts and Friends discounts and The once a year cheque...................... we still pay an EXTRA $300-$350 a year for our power. Energy Online and Mercury are much cheaper ..should never have changed in the first place but got promised the moon by some telemarketing guru!

Meh, I probably *should* but I have been meaning to shop around for contents/car insurance since last Oct and haven't got around it so in reality I'd prob just keep paying the bill and not get around to changing.
