Anyssa isn't crawling yet, but she is getting around the house faster than ever.

It is time for us to baby proof the place - I've thought of the obvious like the heater and the power sockets, but what are some of the less obvious things we need to think about?

I've heard that it's good to get down on the floor yourself and see what's at that level - you may notice things you otherwise wouldn't.

cat/dog food out of reach (we moved them along with the rubbish bin into the laundry and have a safety gate seperately it from the kitchen). We also have a safety barrier between the ranch slider.

pot plants, cords, we put safety catches on most of the kitchen cupboards (have a couple of drawers Ella can get into and it is on plastic stuff). we also cleared the coffee table of all the stuf on it and moved things like vases, photo frame etc out of reach.

we also make sure that we keep the toilet door shut.

that's all that comes to mind atm, but you kind of learn as you go and bear in mind when she starts crawling it will only be slowly at first so you have heaps of time to move things out of reach.

As well as moving the stuff of the coffee table as mentioned, check the height of your coffee table as sharp corner make nasty cuts on little foreheads as they bump against it while crawling.

I was going to say the coffee table as well. And any heaters that you have, or tablecloths that can be pulled. Our girls went for CD stacks! You don't need to worry too much about baby proofing because you'll likely be within her view when she starts exploring and you'll get to see where she is heading for with a minute's notice
