Firstly I best say that my son is a good sleeper - always has been. But he has only been sleeping around 45min - 1hour at a time during the day. He does 12 hours at night no worries, but I know he can do longer during the day. He is currently doing 3 sleeps - around 9am, 12pm and 3pm. He then sleeps at night from 6pm - through to around 7am... I read somewhere about sleep cycles - is he just completing one cycle and then waking? Is there a way to get him to sleep longer? ------------- Mum to two beautiful kids

how long do you leave him in his cot before you go in and get him? charli would sleep for an hour, then wake and if i left her, she'd be asleep again within 5-10mins and wouldn't wake again for another hour, so having 2hrs in total ------------- http://www.alternatickers.com">

I'm the same, if Cooper wakes after 45mins, I just leave him, and 9/10 he'll go back to sleep. If he's getting hysterical then I'll go in and check he hasn't got a dirty nappy or stuck. If that is the case I'll do what I have to do remedy it and put him back. He's a great day sleeper, just sucks at night. ------------- Mr Mellow (16) Miss Attitude (8) Destructa Kid (3)

I can leave him in ther up to an hour and he still doesn't go abc k to sleep. He doesn't cry or get upset he just talks to himself... My mum says not to worry about it, he must be getting enough sleep but it seems like he should be sleeping longer than this. He isn't hungry either and most of the time it isn't a dirty nappy ------------- Mum to two beautiful kids

T went through a phase of that too and then changed from one short morning sleep after 12-13 hours at night of about an hour and then he now has like 2 or 3 in the afternoon, i think its just a phase they go through as another friends baby did the exact same thing as thomas ------------- http://lilypie.com">

If he's happy enough with that amount of sleep, he is probably fine with it. Sounds like he is having good night sleeps. Or do you think that he isn't getting enough sleep, is he grumpy etc? ------------- Chloe (4 years) and Oliver (3 years). |

I would LOVE Hannah to have THAT sleeping pattern!
She matches him for the day sleeps - 4 x 45 mins naps. Sometimes 2 x 45s mins and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon - but that's a rarity. But still waking up once in the night. I would've thought that was quite normal? -------------

Hey Bel! that' sgreat that he's happy to just lay in his cot... I would perhaps leave him so he's in there for say 1.5hrs total (including the nap time) and hopefully he will be 'resting' anyway.
How is he when he's up?? how long does he last till he gets grizzly? This was always a sure sign for me that my boys needed longer naps (being grumpy after being up for a short time). With Tyde he's basically been up for shorter amounts of times and then slept better naps. He was probably doing similar nap times but longer. E.g. 8.30/9am- 10.30/11am, then 1/2pm - 3.30pm, then at that age a short catch up nap at about 4.45/5pm if necessary... finally he kicked that nap.. but can't remember exactly when he did.
