Has anyone else been prescribed this for morning sickness? Does it work? My specialist prescribed me some this morning but he said it may help with the vomiting but not neccessarily the nausea, and if it's not going to work I'd rather not take it. He says its 100% safe for bubs but if it doesn't help it seems pointless taking it.

it's an anti-emetic - meaning it stops you from being sick - some people find it helps with ansuea - others just find it stops them from being sick but they still feel a little queasy.   why not try it and see - i mean if it doesn't work then at least you've tried it. if it does, then YAYAY! worth a try.

in some ways i wish i had of tried something for mine. i had morning sickness really bad (hated that first trimester) hardly did anything apart from lounge around. couldnt stand food and the thought of going out didnt appeal.
goodluck... i'd give it a go, if it makes you feel better and it doesnt harm baby why not?! but i do know where you are coming from with taking things.
HOPE IT HELPS!!!

You're both so right. I am just a chicken! I tried some NaturoPharm stuff when I was preg with Maya and it just made it worse, so now I'm nervous to try anything!

Hi Emma. I had to have it with all my pregnancies because I was "starving" myself and my doc said if it at least helped me to keep food down then that was better for Bubs. I was told it is perfectly safe & from the research that I did it came up looking roses. Unfortunately it didn't stop the nausea for me & I still vomitted sometimes but at least I stopped losing weight & started gaining it instead.

I have Maxalon when I get migranes (I throw up from the pain) - anyway sometimes I get the nausea and run to the toilet then I'm like "what am I doing here" - other times I just take some go to sleep and everything just goes away...

So what I am trying to say is EXPERIMENT! And sometimes it will work 100% sometimes it wont. At least you will only have say 1 bad day a week instead of 7!!

OK, will be brave and fill the prescription tomorrow - can't be bothered going out now. I did get some Seabands yesterday and some elecrolyte replacement drink. Can't say for sure if the seabands are working, I don't think they are, but don't want to take them off in case they are making things a little better! And the electrolyte stuff would probably help soothe my stomach - if I could keep it down long enough!

Sorry for my moaning - I know we WANT this baby, I am just finding pregnancy really, really tough atm, and knowing that this went on until after 25 weeks with Maya is a little depressing!

Hi Emma, probably not much help since your having trouble keeping stuff down but there is a green bottle of Powerade that has extra electrolytes. Abit nicer to drink that the usual electrolyte stuff. I used to drink it a couple of sips at a time. My doctor was the one who put me on to it & it certainly helped alot for me when I was throwing up blood & stuff.

I third the green powerage, the GP I had at the time told me to give it to Kiya when she had a really bad vomiting bug and wouldn't drink the yukky kids electrolite replacement syrupy stuff (I've forgotten what its called). He said to put a pinch of salt into the bottle to correct the balance.

Definitly powerade... E2's not recommended for kids according to the bottles

yeah I used powerade, the lemonlime flavour and it worked, I would get the powder and make it up so its not so sweet.

Maxolon rocks!! It helped me to survive the first 22 weeks of pregnancy. Take it Em - it has no effect on the baby, and it it helps you to be able to carry on a semi normal life then it has to be good.

Yeah its definitely Powerade that I was recommended. And the green one has more electrolytes than the other flavours. I'm not sure why that one has more but that was the one I was told to get for my hyperemis (sp?).
And Emma don't worry about "moaning" we understand.....And I will be waiting for the next complaints with a smile on my face!!!!

Saw my midwife yesterday and we were talking about breastfeeding and she mentioned that maxalon is also great for helping milk supply, so if its safe to take while breastfeeding I would say its fine for morning sickness

It was weird when she got prescribed the Pedialyte, went and got the prescription filled and the pharmacist said that they didnt have the one the DR prescribed but Pedialyte was a different brand and tasted better (like bubblegum) and the other stuff I was prescribed tastes like old dish water... well she didn't like the bubblegum so wouldve hated to see how she reacted to "dish water"!!
Don't worry Becca!! That week Arna got prescribed (and I got) 6 different things for stomach bug / chicken pox / nappy rash... I was lucky I remembered what potion was for what illness!!!

Kiya HATED the Pedialyte - she threw up worse after having it! but she could keep the powerade down. It got to the point when she was really sick a different time, and we were in A&E and they wanted us to force feed her the Pedialyte, Kiya was crying 'cause she didn't want it.

I had to force-feed Maya paedialyte by syringe when she had gastro at 10 mths and she fought it so bad she ended up with a naso-gastric tube in to get it into her. One of these days they will work out how to make it actually TASTE nice!

As for the Maxalon, I must have left the prescription at the doctors when I paid the bill. Of course I realised that AFTER I got to the chemist to pick it up! Will see the Gp for another script today
