here I am getting up my ar** possibly bout nothing but I truly feel annoyed.Brought myself a horse in August 07(after many years of not riding)and decided about 4-5wks ago that Id start going to a local(ish) equestrian centre(30-40mins) drive away.My best friend keeps her horse with mine and we ride together and go to lessons together. So anyway lady that owns the place seemed kinda okay to begin with(not overly friendly or welcoming
) and then after couple weeks asks us on a thurs if we could help her by being writers for a dressage day.I said it would be fun and Id have to see if I could get someone to have the kids.my friend couldnt do it.Until sat I thought I had a babysitter but then she said she couldnt so I emailed lady and she was quite snoty with me.I felt miffed that she got sh*ty.When ya have kids these things happen.(she has no children)and dont mind the petrol to get there etc.Nothing was even offered. And anyway She is being quite rude and snoty to me now.Like I left $100 for a bridle and she then told me I had only left $60.Then when she realized I had left $100 not even a sorry. And plus took her bout 4-5days to reply to say that yes the money was there after all.Grrrr.....we spend $110.00 there every week for our lessons.Havent missed one and we dont even get a friendly attitude from them. Our instructor great though.Isnt customer service about making us feel welcome and a part of the place?they not good at that.i intended to be going there permanently but am starting to wonder if I should bother. But I really like the facilities the instructor and the fact that I am progressing........what shouldn I do?probably seems really unimportant so I wont be surprised if no one replies. If it was my place and I was struggling to keep it all running(as I no they are) I would be arse kissing to make EVERYONE feel really happy

To be honest, coming from a riding background also, I think it has alot to do with the horsey industry. I have been involved with quite a few centres schools etc and ALL of them have been run by snotty uptight woman!    My Aunt even runs her own school and stables and although I adore her I can imagine she would be horrid to her customers- I think it may be the type of people that particular profession attracts. She is also in the position of needing clients but I doubt for one second that would improve her customer service skills.

I have no ideas for what you should do though sorry- I personally just kept my contact with these type of people to a minimum. Good luck with it all!

I think to a degree Jennz is right. My IL are heavily involved in horses and they are about what you have both described.

It maybe a case of better the devil you know

I feel for you as you have made a big committment to something and aare suppose to be excited and enjoying it but now are not.

Yeah I have been told that "horsie"especially"show"horsie people can be pretty snobbie snotie people.I hate being like that.I love getting to know new people and making them happy.
oh well guess I'll just have to not take things personally and just get on with it.oneday Im going to start a real down to earth equestrian centre.(no snotiness aloud). Thanks heaps for replying.made me feel that its probably not just me that gets treated that way from the lady

Meh, sounds like she knows how to win friends and influence people!!

But like the others have said.. the attitude 'show' horsey people have really sucks! Being from a horsey background myself I have been to many a shows (both as a spectator and a rider) and even then I got the whole snooty look down the nose glances and comments GAH, some people!! They think their sh*t don't stink, but honestly... they come from the same place we do in the long run
