Okies so i have some questions....
I have this pain sorta hard to explain, its down by my "fu fu" on the right hand side but in what feels like the leg meets "fu fu" area joint, anyone know what this could be? It hurts to walk for a little and i am hobbling along its awful.
Also i have been having period type cramps, not bad ones at all and they come and go, any chance this maybe my version of slight but barely noticable braxton hicks?

Hey jez,
with the cramps, have you noticed your tummy going any harder at all?

I have the same pains, be careful when lifting things aswell because that can make it worse. With my first pregnancy around this time I was pushing a box of photocopy paper with my foot and pulled that groin top of leg muscle and could hardly walk for the rest of my pregnancy. Rolling over in bed was a nightmare too.

Yes i know the pains too. I get them going from sitting to standing and have to limp for the first 4-5 steps but only ever on the left hand side (my left).

I used to get the pains in my leg socket too. It was kind of like shocks, basically it was Joey pressing on a nerve or something and I had to put up with it... I know it hurts though!!

Could it just be ella being a little so n so? I had this awhile ago and it was only when i sat up quickly. I have previously before being pregnant been diagnosed with having very "free" joints which makes me more flexable than normal, my muscles and tendons are lazy around my joints.

Ok so i thought i would be a bit better today and im not so i did some research and i have a few symptoms of Pelvic joint pain (symphysis pubis dysfunction). Should have guessed it could happen due to my "free joints" before i was pregnant. This sucks its really painful! I have heard that wearing support for your bump can help?! Any ideas?

Jess, the research on pelvic support belts show that it doesnt make much difference in reducing pelvic pain - but it may be worth a try to hold everything together. Maybe ask your midwife for a physio referral

Yeh i went to physio before and she was useless and brushed it off as being "typical pregnancy happenings" didnt help the fact that i was in pain and to top it off she was a cow so im pretty reluctant to go back...

I used a tubigrip support stocking which I foudn more comfy than the support belt, but to be honest it didn't help much. I did find that sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees helped.
I saw the physios at Nat Womens who were really good, they recommended that I didn't sit for longer than 1/2 hour at a time without getting up for a (gentle) strecth, and not standing for long periods either.
Talk to your midwife about it tho because if you do actually have SPD it can affect which positions you are able to labour and birth in.

I used the belt thing, it helped a little but mainly cos i was huge it helped carry him I guess but didnt really help with the pain. The physio did tell me that when Im rolling over in bed to do it in a couple of stage and go onto my back first, lifting stomach and moving one leg at a time let move to other side and put pillow under stomach and between legs.

yep all that stuff that Emma and Robyn have said. so things slowly, use lots of pillows for everything lol, and hope it'll all just go away some time soon.
I was worried about positions i could birth in and my midwife said to me that it didn't really make too much difference? i still thought well, surely if i have legs far apart it'll hurt like heck and maybe do damamge... but i guess it depends on the degree of how bad it is, and she also pointed out to me that by the time most people are in a position where they have their legs far apart, they are pushing and it's painful anyway. couldn't argue with her there.

I've been getting really bad pains in my groin area too. Mostly it hurts at night, so I sleep with a pillow folded in half and jammed up inbetween my legs!! Sounds stunning, but does help a bit. I've been referred to the physio but at this rate the baby will be here before I actually get an appointment

Yep, I remember it too - I was 21 and felt 100 years old! But am clinging to the knowledge that SPD is completely random and that women who get it in one pregnancy are no more likely to get it second time round...

i didn't get it 1st time round - i think the only reason i got it second time round was cos i was basically carrying paris around 24/7, - which put alot of stress on my already gammy joints - i think the preg hormones really over-do their job with me, make everything nice and soft like they're supposed to but sometimes too much so - i mean i know with breastfeeding you still have a fair amount of those hormones etc circulating - but i just still feel like i am still squishy since having Ayja - leg muscles, arm muscles, tummy, everything. maybe oncei stop b/feeding it might go away, i hope.
