DH and I own a business and are wanting to know where our money would be best spent with regards to advertising.

A bit of background is, the business is an on-line business and relates to gifts using photos of pets, children, a lovely photo you have taken while on holiday etc. We have had this business for quite a few years now, but haven't really had the time to promote it properly. We have decided that as I am not going back to my job, this business is going to be my "baby" so to speak and I will be operating it from home!

Now my question is, where would you search or look for businesses that offer "gift" kind of services? We currently advertise on google, Practical Parenting magazine and Kiwi Pet magazine and the TNT magazine in the U.K. Most of our customers come from the google search engine which has surprised us!

So what search engines/advertising places would you search for gifts like this?

NB to Admin: I do not intend this to be self promotion, it is a genuine question, but please feel free to delete my post if you deem it unappropriate.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Advertise with us! I can send you a rate card etc. if you like? The Mums in Business feature is a great deal for small businesses online, and we also have the Irresistables section of the magazine.

I tend to go with the google search if i am looking at the internet. Otherwise the back of magazines like OB and dare I say 'treasures' for things like that.
Oh and how about the Bounty books?

Whats the Mums in Business feature, sounds interesting!

Will do, just PM me your email address

From memory, Bounty are really expensive. We used to have inclusions in the Bounty packs years ago. I could be wrong tho.

What about the Reach Me packs? I know nothing about how much they cost to have an inclusion in or if there are specific criteria but could be worth looking into.

Also the Canvas section of the Weekend Herald has a directory, we advertise in there from time to time.

check out www.advertisenow.co.nz (I think). It works like lastminute.com but for advertising. I am in chch so have only looked at it for that but am pretty sure that its for the whole of NZ. Good way of gettimg some bargains in advertising.

I am based out West as well and I am currently advertising in the Coffee News Henderson edition, it is quite reasonable 13 weeks is $290 incl GST, I found Western Leader to be v expensive and did not generate much business from it considering the outlay.

I go with google.

You could see if you could send out some sort of discount coupon with the reach me packs? I know if I have a coupon I'm more likely to go someone cos it's a good deal, and then if they're good I'm more likely to go back there again
