I've been thinking about names ... it's keeping me distracted while my wee treasure gives me ongoign heart attacks
I have enormous love for a particular girls name, but I'm a bit torn by the possibility that it may ... you know ... ruin my child's life!
So, I put a poll on my blog, and I'd love your vote!
xo TIA

Love the name too, but I am one to wait until you see what bubs looks like before you commit them to a particular name, so have a few options up your sleeve We had 10 girls names chosen, and knew that one of them would fit the bill!

I really LOVE that name. It is fun, strong and funky. I have taught two girls who were called it and were both fantastic girls. (teaching often puts you off names but not in this case!)
My husband also thinks it is a cool name,

We were going to have Harry for a boy, and when I found out I was having a girl, I considered Harriet, but thought it was a bit 'old fashioned'. However, since then I have fallen in love with the name. I reckon go for it!

I have a cousin called Harriet. She's about 20-ish. And it totally works, I think she's that much more splendid just because she has such a great name. My Harriet 'owns' her name. I think it's a name that needs to be owned. But based on your blog, any child of yours will be the type to own their name! So I voted in favour.

I voted reserve. Love the name but I think it depends on the child itself so we will first have to see if it is a girl.
And btw shouldnt you choose something with an I seeing this is number 9 afterall? (I am totally just joking here Ginger, I do love the name but sometimes looking at your child you might think it wont suite them ect so see if it grows on you during the months (after you find out it is a girl) or not.)

I voted yayyyyyyyy for Harriet! I'm a big fan of girls names that can be shortened to boys' names.
There is a chick I know named Harriet that goes by Hari and she rocks aplenty.
And you can have Hannah - it isn't like I have reserved rights on the name! or were you talking about any one of the other Hannahs out there? There's a few! Even another Hannah Elisabeth (though she's Elizabeth)
I have to say - 'tis a pretty cool name
But so is Harriet.
You are totally gonna end up picking a name like I did - the only name that didn't sound like fingernails on a blackboard by the time i popped the little demon out!

I love the name Harriet, I went to school with a Harriet and she was cool (and blonde).
Poppy is cool too, Jamie Oliver's daughter is called Poppy.
But then again I like classic names (just look at my children's names) and Harriet is a classic name.

Yep, all voted from me too and it's a big YES from me as well... Harriet just seems to be full of character and big personality... I say it's well on it's way to being cool!

I reserved my judgement, I reckon Harriet for a spunky wee girl would be cool but you know how some babies have cute names and then you look at their faces and you're like BAM! That sure is one damn ugly baby I'm sure you won't have that problem though
I like Poppy! My friend called her daughter Poppy and while it took me a while to get used to it, now I like it and it really suits her!

Emz - I'm not sure any manner of names is going to help an ugly baby. heeeeeehehehehe And FTR - Hannah wasn't that cute as a baby... all chubby and patchy hair-ish.

I'm reserving judgement, I think it is a name that could grow on someone, especially if the child is rather spunky!
I love Poppy too though!

I LOVE Harriet - it's old school and unique (as in not so popular) without being freaky.
I only skimmed over your HUGE blog post (sorry) but if you're trying out names and not sure if #9 is a he or she you could alternate the names you call "it". That's what we did when Caitlin was possibly a Matthew
Also - a good judge for choosing names is if you can cream it in anger without feeling like a dick then you're pretty safe lol
I can't imagine Gwyneth yelling down the supermarket aisle "APPLE! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW " *snigger*

And I thought I was the only one shouting out names to see if it will flow quickly. The last thing the poor child needed for me was to get angry and I cant say her name or full name quickly without stumbling over it and making me even more agro. lol.

I it, it would totally suit a Ginger/Al baby! Number 9 is destined to have personality alright!
Not the biggest fan of Poppy, it's a wussy name.

Hhhhhhhm, I am so totally unsure. Will sit on the fence for now
Poppy - is what my older sister used to call Paris all the time and i HATED it with a vengeance... it does sound more like a pet name, like candy or honey.
And Harriet brings to mind images of a kid with wonky pigtails and and thick-rimmed glasses. (sorry Ginger! kick me)
Sooooo, what does your man like?

Well I'm glad that a ginger isn't having a Poppy.
But I have to say that Harriet sounds... ugh.
Sorry, but you asked!!
And then I looked up the meaning and it says "Home Ruler"
So I say go for it! If baby is the oldest (obviously) and a girl (clearly girl=Harriet) and potentially ginger, then "Home Ruler" sounds spot on
*ducks*
