Hi ladies, I am having lap surgery later this week for possible endo and other problems. I am starting to feel terrified about the surgery itself and outcomes...If anyone out there has had lap surgery before are you able to talk me through the pre-op / post-op process? I am especially interested about the pain I have heard about that is associated with the gas used in the operation. Many thanks

Hi Sunny
I had a lap just over a year ago and had a few things done during that time (I would imagine you'll be having most of the same stuff done) easy to say now but its the best thing I ever did. I went privately and so only know of things from that point of view but I had lovely nurses the whole way through and only spent an hour or so at hosp before the took me through. I had op in morning and ended up staying the night as I slept for most of the day. At about midnight I started feeling pretty normal again and yes was pretty sore cos i felt all gassy. Nurse told me to walk around and it would ease and she was right. Anyway I hope this helps and try not to be to nervous. Good luck
Hope this makes sense it's prob a bit of a ramble. If you want to know anything else I'll be more than happy to try help

Thanks Heather, I too are fortunate enough to be able to go private. I am expected to be in hospital for only one night as well. How soon after surgery did you get informed of the results?

I have just bumped another thread that you may find useful. Good luck for your surgery

to be honest i think we waited until we saw specialist a month after op to find out results. He did tell us after op though that things were worse than he expected but we would have a 1 in 3 chance of getting pregnant. I have endo and one of my tubes was totally out of action due to being glued to my bowel (he fixed that) and the other tube was all kinked up so neither were working as they should but they do now

Hey sunny, I just had one about 2.5 weeks ago.
It was fine! They found the endo, and got it out. Take charcoal tabs for the gas pain (which hurt me like a biarch in the days following). The tablets helped heaps!!!
