ive had mastitis since sunday. i went to my new doctor on monday, he checked jacksons mouth for white spots and cheked my nipple, then said "yes you have mastitis, keep baby OFF the breast" (i didnt listen to him)
i now have it in both breasts, im sweating and not getting any better. so i called healthline and she asked me what antibiotics i was on.i read out the box and she said "ARE YOU SURE?" and i said yes.... she said "thats an antifungal!!!" i have a suspicion hes treated me for candida of the nipples instead?! i am so upset ------------- Mummy to two beauties... So do you have thrush as well as mastitis or is he just an idiot?? You definitely need antibiotics by the sound of it... get thee to a doc right away!! xoxo |

Yeah def go get some antibiotics today. Is good to keep him feeding with mastitis to empty out the breasts. Take panadol as well until you get the anitbiotics they will help keep the fever down.
I had mastitis 5 times so I know how if feels and it is bloody awful  -------------

Go directly to the doctor, do not pass go, do not collect $200! Mastitis can progress so quickly, I woke up one morning with a red patch on my breast and by lunchtime was in hospital hallucinating with a fever of nearly 40 degrees. I ended up staying in hospital 9 days!

thanks ladies
i went back to the docs to see why i was given anti fungal if i had mastitis, and the doc said intially on monday i didnt have a fever so he assumed i had candida mastitis? but he looked at me again today and said both my breasts are looking really red so hes given me some antibiotics and didnt charge me for the visit, i was ready to rip into him as i thought he'd accidently prescribed me the wrong thing!!!! ------------- Mummy to two beauties...
