          | Does anyone know what pre-labour period pains are related to? I've been getting them on and off for a week. My MW says it means things are loosening up. Is it related to cervix effacement or anything specific???
It's been great not having period pains for 9 months - as soon as they started again I remembered why I didn't miss them!

          | Yep I had them at about 37 weeks aswell, they were like icky period cramps, and sometimes they were quite bad, at one point I thought I might be in labour, but nope lol
My midwife said they are just braxton hicks, not painful...but not exactly nice either lol

          | I had them a few weeks ago too and my midwife said its to do with the babys head putting pressure on the cervix. Like Sheena said, "not painful...but not exactly nice either"
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy

          | My labour started exactly like period pain.

          | DJ, that's kindof what I was hoping for, but having read Sheena's experience over the last 10 days with pain but no baby, wasn't getting my hopes up!

          | I have been getting occassional period type cramps lately too hopefully it's a sign that baby isn't too far away - well at least another 2-3 weeks anyway!

          | Im only 30 weeks 2moro and i have been having "period pain" since yesterday - its really quite sore!!
Also the area "down there" around the opening is hard and swollen - tender to the touch...

 Should i be concerned?
