I think they hate it cos it bounce sound waves around in there - so is probably actually quite an icky noise.. although i think most babies react to them even long before their hearing is developed

Yer i have heard that but it says on the pamphlet that they cant sense or hear it, i think personally its coz there is something pressed down on them lol Coz she does it to the midwife to and when cory touches me lol

I got it off trademe it was $99 i think.

i know what you mean emma, i saw them on trademe and was so tempted to get one. before i started feeling baby move i just wanted to get the midwife round everyday so i could hear the heartbeat and reassure myself he was ok!

I'm just being a nutter. I mean, theres no sense getting one till 12 weeks at least, and then it will only be another month or so before I start feeling bubs move... Plus, Willie will laugh at me!

I'm really hopeful that when I go for my first midwife appointment in a couple of weeks I'll get to hear the heartbeat. I'll be 12 weeks by then, so...

Jez, was it a proper doppler? Coz I got a gadget for listening to bubs heartbeat in Canada ($50), but it's not the same as the ones they use at hospital / ultrasound - actually tells you that its not really effective until the third trimester - and we have definitely been trying heaps already !! Can't wait until I can actually hear something other than bubs hiccups and my indigestion
