As of yesterday evening, Aoife has decided that she's too cool to have boobie anymore. Thankfully she'll take the bottle fine and whatever is bothering her isn't effecting her sleep.
She's still bright and chirpy as ever, just when it comes to feeding her she refuses the boob point blank. So today I had to BF Eimear while my sister fed Aoife EBM, and then express after for the next feed. This isn't a routine I'll be looking forward to doing alone. She was inconsolable last night and the only thing that calmed her was her 'chewing' on my finger. But if it was teething it would be effecting her more than just feeding wouldn't it? Is it common for babies to reject the boob? Is it a 'phase' or does it sometimes last longer? |

Hasn't happened to me, but have heard of it happening to others with teething and sickness (a few days and they were back on the boobie again). Keep offering and she'll hopefully take it again before too long. -------------

| Daniel refused the boob at 3 months. After about a week of constant screaming battles which we had had on and off since he was born I finally gave up and put him on the bottle to save my sanity. |

A friends son refused booby when he was sick with a cold at 8wo. She gave him EBM from a bottle but found once he was better he refused to take booby again and for the next 4 months she expressed every feed and gave it to him from a bottle.
My sis had the same thing when she'd been in hospital and her son had been given bottles while she'd been away, he refused to go back to breast so she refused to give him a bottle but constantly offered breast feeds and he quickly cottoned on (after about 1 day) and became a breast fed baby again. -------------

Some babies stop drinking from the breast when their mum has hormonal changes, like if you're pregnant again.

I feel for ya, Harry did this at Easter, so he was about 2 or 3 months old. I felt so bad, it was like he was rejecting me!! He was screaming and arching his back anytime it looked like I was gonna try put him on the boob, and turning right away. This went on for a couple of days, at first he took some expressed milk but then he started refusing that too!!!
I still have no idea why he had his little nursing strike, but eventually he went back on to the boob. We had lots of skin to skin contact - had a deep bath together and then cuddled up cosy in bed and had a sleep (skin to skin again). While he was sleeping I gradually eased him next to me so I could try to feed him lying down, and when he started to wake (still sleepy) I pulled his dummy out and slipped my nipple in and he slowly started to take it. It did take him a while to get totally right again but then he went back to normal. Ok panic over. She took the boobie again this morning after a little bit of fussing. *phew*
Maybe she just wanted to spend extra time with her Aunty who came from the other side of the world to meet her. 
And Mrs Mojo, that did briefly cross my mind but based on the activity over the last few weeks it would have had to be the immaculate conception

ya i was gonna say don't worry too much about it as it probably is a phase most babies go through. I was in the exact same situation where my daughter lost complete interest which was so strange and upsetting for me cause she would demand the breast always. When it happened i spoke to plunket and they told me to leave it for a while and keep trying.
