doesn anyone use these?

We have one in Spencers room, the largest one. It keeps the chill off but it doesn't heat as such. I wouldn't recommend them for a large space.
It says on their website that they aren't designed to heat just to keep the chill off. On really cold nights it probably keeps Spencers room at about 14, last night it was -2 out and when I went into him at 5.40am this morning his room was 15 degrees. Spencers room is quite small as well its only about 3m x 3m -------------

DH looked at these. The part that really bugged us about them was that the panel heats up to 75 degrees which can easily burn. I don't know that I would want one in a toddlers room when they don't know not to touch

You can touch it without it burning, you would only get burnt if you held your hand on it for a while.
I only switch Spencer's on when he goes to bed so no danger of him touching it anyway and really it would be no worse than have any other type of heater in there. -------------

We had them in our last house and have just ordered them for this house.
IMHO they are only good for bedrooms and as Cuppatea said they work more like a night store so take the chill off rather than heat. That said in our bedroom we didn't need any other heating and I was never cold and this was in a 100 year old house. I don't think they would work in the lounge. We left ours on 24/7 and you didn't even notice a change in the powerbill. It never got so hot that you couldn't touch it. As cuppatea said, you would have to hold your hand on it for a very long time and even then it wouldn'y actually burn your hand. Can you tell that I am a big fan! -------------

We hae got one in Josh's room (the large size) - it takes the chill off as his is the coldest room in the house but doesn't heat it. we use a oil heater in rhyleys - I don't think the panel is better or worth it to be honest, would of been better to spend the money on an oil heater. ------------- Ann

They're great- my grandparents had them and swore by them (they really feel the cold). They had one in each of their rooms and found they were perfect- I remember seeing on here they cost 5-9c an hour to run but oil fin heaters are 22-45c p/h- thats a huge difference especially as power costs are only going to go up! But yeah- no good for big areas like a lounge. ------------- Jen, Charlotte 7 & Kate 3

Oil heaters are at there worst (cost wise) when they're heating up. If you were to leave it on all the time it would use less power than turning it off and on all the time. Our house is freezing!! We have two convector heaters on when someones home. We have a fireplace but need to get some wood. Also landlords suppose to be retrofitting the place some time soon. Honestly you can see your breath inside some mornings! -------------
