I have a horrendous sore throat. Does anybody know what I can take?

I got told to take propolis (sp?) throat lozenges, not strepsils. You can get them from a pharmacy or supermarket. I found them really good. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

I would ask at the pharmacy what they would recommend for pregnant women. I have a sore thoat as well and since i am still b/f can't really take anything either apart from lozones (which don't do anything for them). ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

You can have strepsils but they don't seem to do much ay.... have you had a lemon & honey drink? -------------  |

I had that last week and made myself hot lemon and honey drinks. Yum! I used a fresh lemon and a teaspoon of honey in each mugful. So much better and nicer than Lemsip - and it worked instantly. Oh no **hugs** I had this when i was about 35 weeks pregnant aswell. My midwife said for to just have manuka honey for the sore throat.
Make a nice honey and lemon drink and sip that, it might help  ------------- |

Thanks everyone - I've been having honey drinks (can't find any lemon!) Its the horrible scratchy sore throat, hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

You can get comvita throat lozenges which are safe during pregnancy. Manuka is the active ingredient, and as it is a natural antibiotic it will help. Other than that lots of liquids and lots of rest is the best you can do. Hope you feel better soon. -------------

Take panadol as well as the hot lemon and honey drinks.

I got a hideous sore throat while in Waikato Hospital recently.....They gave me Codeine..Paracetamol and Vicks Honey and Lemon Lozengers...... -------------
