Rhyley woke from his afternoon sleep with a very high temp (boardering 40) Pamol brought it down to 37 after 3/4 hours... he ate a little food and was cuddly but happy in himself (he likes cuddles anyhow) i have just put him to bed (as kept him up a little late to make sure he was ok) well he felt a bit hot and took his temp and its on the rise again.. its not been 3 hours since I gave him the last lot of pamol - do you think i should give him somemore??
We don't have a after care Dr so can't take him there and apart from the temp I cant seem to find anything wrong with him (no cold etc...)

I'd say wait till the 4 hours is up, you can give Brufen now tho if need be to help control the temp. They can have Pamol 4 hourly and Brufen 6 hourly, that's what they do for fever in hospital.
Bugger that you can't take him to the doc tho, coz I usually have a policy of taking mine if their temp hits 39.
Maybe call healthline?

Did you try giving him a warm bath to cool him down too? Checked for rashes?
I'd be inclined to call Healthline asap and see what a nurse says.

I wouldn't worry too much since he's not showing any other symptoms. Make sure you remember to keep his fluids up. Give him another dose of pamol at the 4hr mark and then to bed. I wouldn't be too surprised if the symptoms show up tomorrow.

No the house isn't too hot (lol I wish :-)
I don';t have any Brufen
Hes in bed, I will keep checking on him and his temp.
If he gets up to 38 again (currently 37.6) I will get him out of bed... I have purposely left him oil heater off so hopefully a cooler room keeps the temp at bay. I always worry when my babies have a high temp with no other symptoms. Josh and Brooke as babies had convolsions (sp??)
Yeah it sux not having a on duty dr - if we wanted to take him we would have to travel half hour away to A and e.
Might try helpline....
Thanks

Yeah, I worry more about temps with NO symptoms than if they have symptoms coz at least then you know what you are dealing with.

LOL Teresa - i didn't ring them - I have just checked him and his temp is 36.5 so coming down - probably cause its cold in his room... might pop the oil heater on don't want him to get a chill.

well actually it must of been a false reading as just double checked and it was 38.4 (mustn't of had it in his ear far enough/right) so I have given him some pamol (almost 4 hours since)
I can see I am not going to sleep good tonight with worry

We've had the random temperatures with no other symptoms before and although worrying, quite often the next day she'll wake up happy and fine again. They can be the start of a bug though, hope he is just fighting off something without it developing into something else!

With both my girls- high temps with no other symptoms were urine infections, do boys get them?
Hope the night goes ok!

Rhyley had a temp all night so i have not had a lot of sleep.
Took him to the Dr's and he has a inflamed infected throat and is now on Antibiotics. His temp is still high (not as high as 40 now though) so giving the pamol along with the AB's.
Thanks for all your support on here - I knew I would get it here

Kryssi's temp is still high tonight, she's just had some more pamol (last lot was at lunchtime)... sounds like it's my night tonight, Ann At least I know (basically) what she has - the cold I have. I just hope that tomorrow I don't regret her not being to the docs today

aww Teresa I so feel for you.
Rhyley temp is still up, its been hour and half since pamol and hes still got a high temp, Ihave had him striped down to his nappy since he got up from afternoon sleep. Good thing is he is happy to eat yoghurts and he has a wee bit to drink now and then.
Only thing is he want to snuggle cuddle and my body heat and his doesn't make his temp go down - hes on his dads knee watching number jacks all snuggled in.
Oh question is..... can you buy Brufen at the supermarket?
Roksana - I think his ears maybe sore too - well one in particular as he his rubbing it now and then. I am suer the AB's will sort them both out once they kick in.

Yup Kryssi's been quite cuddly and a bit extra-sleepy. I have got her temp down to 38.8. With the cooling night air, I'm sure she'll be ok tonight but we'll have to watch her again tomorrow. She seemed alright last night and this morning but by the time the day warms up, she's hot again. I guess her body recovers from the fever a bit while she's asleep?

I'm not sure Ann, you can buy Nurofen which is the same drug (ibuprofen) but don't know about the brufen syrup.
Hugs to Rhyley and Kryssi!

After Kryssi waking at 3.45am and being oh so hot to the touch, DH gave her more pamol but she has been ok (temperature-wise) since waking up this morning. Yay! She is now trying to push my left arm off the keyboard (when i take it completely away, she says "again", as in, put it back!) and seems a lot better. Croaky throat and snuffly nose, but the fever is over.

well i was up from 12.30pm till almost 5 am. I was gettig him to stay in his bed but gavve in in the end. combination of sick babba wih a temp, rain and god know what but he would settled for 15 minutes then cry (and yes I let him moan it out cause it wasn't really a cry it was a moan)
The grr part is Dh slept (or pretended) to sleep right thru it.
We were invited out to night but i am staying in, gotta get this bubba better - and the temp is still there... how long does temps last for? this is the longest hes had one for.
