Heya Ladies,
Just wondering if you can help me out - I want to know how much you pay per hour to put your child in daycare?
Ive just signed up with Home grown kids as a home based educator and am super excited, but i just dont know how much to charge...the lady who signed me up suggested between $6-$8 per hour.
There is already someone who is keen to meet up with me - she has 3 kids she wants me to look after, and because they are all from the same family i was thinking of giving them a discount....is $16 - $17 per hour for all three too much to charge???

I pay my nanny $16 per hour for the three kids, altho she mostly just has the gremlins coz Maya is at school. Am giving her a payrise to $18 once baby arrives. HG Kids suggested the going rate for nannies in Auckland was $14-18 per hour so I just picked the middle number.

So if you did the same that would make it $7 per hour, so no I don't think $16-$17 is too much for three kids.

I just signed up today too! Is that the family with 4 year old twins? I think you should charge anywhere between 16-18 an hour for all 3, it will be pretty full on looking after 2 four year olds and a toddler plus your little man! You want to make it worth your while!

I don't think that sounds too much at all. Sounds like a fair price to me for three children's care.

We pay $4.40 an hour (well 89c actually after subsidy) for a centre. That's in Chch though. And I would assume homebased would be more expensive?

Hey, Emz, can I ask who you use for childcare in Chch? I'm going to have to think about childcare in about a year's time and trying to get an idea who's good and what price range?

TIA

We use Porse and are paying $6.50 an which includes food.  From what I understand it depends what qualifications the caregiver has (ours is a primary teacher0.

DebsB - we use ABC (Aidanfield one out Halswell way as its got a good rep). Most have the same price - $22 half day, I think $36 full day (incl meals) or $170 a week. The prices are going up a wee bit soon, but they're also bringing in 20 hours free for 3-4 year olds so that's a bonus.

The ones at ours are all qualified (except some relievers) and I love how you get a report everyday of what baby's been up to. Puts my mind at ease (and he's only there for 5 hours! )
