Do any of the other Mums out there suffer from terrible headaches after birth. I gave birth to our beautiful wee daughter Matilda a week ago, but over the past couple of days I have been experiencing severe headaches - my blood pressure has also dropped a couple of times & I've had vision/focus problems and almost fainted.
Breastfeeding is not going so well as Matilda has lost a bit more weight & not put any on yet (plus she's only had 2 poo nappies since we brought her home). My midwife has put me on tablets to boost my milk supply - but they make my headaches worse! This happened last year when I took them when I had my first born daughter, Georgia. I ended up having to stop the pills & start formula feeding. The doctor I saw today said that apparently headaches ARE a side effect of the pills. Anyone else out there in the same boat?? How have you coped - is there anything else out there that I could take to boost my milk supply?? -------------

| Sounds to me like your getting very dehydrated. I still get headaches if I dont drink enough. And it makes sense that the tabs would make it worse cos they making your body put more fluid into your breastmilk. |

Exactly what I was thinking. I had headaches really bad at the start and my MW put it down to dehydration. The amount you need to drink is insane!!!! |

LOTS of water, the tablets make you dry as well, I was on some. I used to sit down with a pump bottle while feedig and try to drink it all during the feed, then another after. You need to drink much more than you normally would. ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

I was going to suggest drinking more water too - I can remember getting headaches early on and I think it was because I wasn't drinking enough. The complan shakes are fantastic - it really helped plus gave me a good boost of energy in the mornings. ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

And remember to keep up your eating. BF takes a lot out of you and you will need to eat little and often, as never before!!! Make sure you make up some healthy pick-me-up snacks (e.g. cheese and pineapple) during the day so that when you're really tired and night (and baby is cluster feeding), you have something to go on. -------------  |
