DH and I are starting to think about cots and have been looking around. Everyone seems to talk about American Size or Standard Size cots.

What's the difference. I am assuming the American Size is bigger (isn't everything bigger in America?) but why? And is there a benefit to that?

Thanks guys!

Most american cots seem to be larger so you can just take the sides off and use it as a first bed for longer.

Most cot sheet sets (that I've seen anyway) are american sized too

When we looked at cots I don't actually remember seeing any standard size, only the American size. And as Stacey said most cot sheets are American size, I have just grabbed sheets off the shelf and they have always fitted, have never had to check the size of them before buying

Just thought i should add that i was in farmers in chch yesterday and saw they had the sleigh cot for half price $250 i think it was. I would imagine most farmers have the same specials.

Do you always use cot sized sheets? Or can a folded single sheet fit just as well?

I suppose you could, I like fitted sheets. I hate the top sheet in cot sets though, it's never big enough

I used single sheet's on our cot casue I had only one set of cot sheet's I loved the single ones better cause you could fold it and have 2 sheet's in one if that makes scence. ie top and bottom.
