Okay, so now that my secret is out .... I need some answers about maternity leave. (I've never taken it before.)

So I know all about applying in time and 14 weeks get paid and then up to 52 weeks (in total) your job gets held open (with 21 days' notice of going back or not)....

but how does maternity leave work in with working for families tax credits? Here's my guess:
(a) WFF gets paid as usual but may be a bit higher because my annual income will obviously be lower with a stint on parental leave pay.
(b) In-Work Payment gets paid while you are on the 14 weeks but not when you're on the unpaid leave? (This is really just a stab in the dark because I can't find it written anywhere!)

All help appreciated!

a. it is done on the yearly income which really sucks so it probably won't go up.

b. I think you are right as (if Nat isn't working) you won't have one person working at least 30 hours a week.

Yup we'd both be at home full-time otherwise we'd have to do the whole transition all over again and that would be pretty silly! But I'm just not sure that 3mos is quite long enough so we're saving really hard, hoping we might be able to make it 6mos.

You think we'd get the IWP while on the 14 weeks though?

Isn't WFF based on you income for the previous financial year?
So if Busymum had worked the required hours for the previous year would she not get the entitlement?

Is Nat not entitled to the unemployment benefit for not being in paid employment?

WFF is based on the current financial year. So you have to guess in advance what your income is going to be for that financial year, total PITA

Inwork payment stops as soon as you finish work.  you dont get it while on your 14 weeks paid leave

kk I doubt my DH would be entitled to anything (such as UE) as he won't be actively looking for work. His job already is SAHD and I will be SAHM to the baby LOL. Actually its kinda a shame he couldn't get DPB for the period that I'm not getting paid!
