Hi Girls

No I'm not pregnant, I'm asking these questions on behalf of someone close to me

She suffered a m/c in March '07 and had absolutely no follow up from her GP, Anyway she's just found out that she is expecting so she's feeling very happy about this pregnancy but at the same time is quite anxious, and she really wants this baby... and the best care and would like some recommendations regarding mw's in Auckland she's in Central Auckland.

There is no way that I would recommend my mw to her..

Also is there anyone here that is currently pregnant that has made the decision to go privately? If so,who did you go to and would you recommend?

TIA -

My midwife wasn't private infact she was just the opposite (being a community midwife) but I will share..

Janet Callender and she's based in the Clinical Centre @ Greenlane I have a cellphone number if you'd like it?

I will have a look tonight for a list of private and free midwives, im with Kate Sheppard, but this is my first bub and still quite early, but they are very friendly and some of them do shared care. (means you can have a midwive and a specialist)

This is my first bub and i was reccomended Juliette Wotton in Wairakei Rd, Mt Eden. She's lovely and is taking good care of me as i am having a few issues.

She's an independent MW but works with a group of 3 others so there is always somone available.

Birthcare has a new team of mw's who are absolutely fantastic. They are very relaxed and really seem to believe in keeping things as uninterupted as possible while still being very cuatious. She could just ring birthcare to get a hold of them.

Hi Mel

We used Auckland Obstetrics and they were fantastic. There are 6 obs and you get to meet all of them before the birth so you know who ends up delivering your baby. I had a known condition and they were fantastic!

Thanks
Amanda

I my midwife, she rocks. She's in Glen Innes tho so maybe too far out?

I used Mahesh Harilall from Birthright when I had the gremlins and he was good but I didn't really gel with him. Anil Sharma from Birthright is our expert OB here at OHbaby! and he's awesome.

And Auckland Obstetric are brilliant , my GYN is there (Paul MacPherson) and he is lovely. I would have used him as an OB but I had to use the one that worked with my m/w.

Might be too late for you Mel - but I used Stephanie Vague as my m/w she is based in Mt Eden, and would recommend her to someone that wants someone that is very good, but not at all soft n fluffy IYKWIM. I didnt use him, but I have a couple of friends who have used Neil Pattison (works out of Birthcare) and he is fantastic apparently.

Oh and the other m/w I have heard FANTASTIC things about is Lee Moselen - she is based in Epsom.

I agree with First - the midwifery team at Birthcare Parnell are excellent. I had one of the team for my first birth and that is the reason I've gone back to her this time. I have met 3 of the 4 in the team and they are all wonderful and have the same philosophy of - pregnancy and birth is natural and is something special and unique. The teams works on rosters to ensure that your appointments are always kept and that the midwife attending you at the birth is fresh and not tired from attending 3 other births in 24 hours.

I highly recommend them!
