Hi Everyone

I'm trying to do a few calculations and I was wondering if anyone on here knows how much real estate agents charge to sell your home? How much percent of the sale? I know it probably varies but I just wondered if anyone could share what they know that would be great.

Thanks

Ours was 3.95% plus a $500 base fee they send to the real estate institute.

This was only last month and was LJ Hooker.

The ones that I have come across seem to charge 4% for the first $200K, then either 3% or 2% on the balance (depending on the firm)
But they all seem to differ.
I think it should be something they should have to advertise on their websites!?!
Aparantly alot of them are quite negotiable at the moment with the current market????
Worth a try!!

Then you have the likes of RedEx who charge $7995 total for selling your property.
Average is 3.5-4% and you shouldn't pay more than 5% that's a rip off.

I used to work in admin for a real estate company and they used to charge 4% on the first $500k, and 2.5% on anything after that, plus a set $500 admin fee. Then of course there's GST on the whole lot.

However, we've recently listed our home with a friend who works as an agent for a different co and she charged me 3%, no admin fee.

They are all negotiable, especially in todays market when they are all fighting so hard for the scarce amount of listings that are coming on.

MIL paid a total of 2.5% through Harcourts. That was amazing I thought.
