here is nasty, have just had to rescue our recycling from the back yard, as the winds so strong it blew the container and all the stuff right down our driveways.
i have to take Rhiannon out in this, this afternoon as she has to see the doctor, at least the car is in the garage so wont get blown away getting in and out of the car on this end, until we get to the doctors. Im sitting here looking out my window over the harbour to titahibay and i can see the wind rolling over the water, looks impressive...can also see 5 boats in teh middle of it...silly people hope their boats will be okay ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Hey Kaz, it's pretty dark here and it's raining the wind doesn't seem all that bad.
Is your garage one with an electric door opener? I'd put the car outside, just incase the power goes off later on in the day!! Otherwise you won't be able to get your car out  ------------- Mr Mellow (16) Miss Attitude (8) Destructa Kid (3)

| It's awful, isn't it?! I woke up at 5am to howling winds, yet yesterday was SO beautiful here! I managed to get out for a really enjoyable walk in the sunshine and actually broke a sweat. Haha! |

Pretty awful here too (Hastings) - has been pouring since I woke up this morning - obviously started sometime during the night and there is quite a bit of surface water on road sides etc. And windy! It is bad here in Waiouru. Shannon and Levin have it really bad. You can't get in or out of Shannon (why you would want to get in is beside me thou ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Gosh these all seem so close. It has just started drizzling here a wee bit, not to windy. I even walked to playgroup this morning I was expecting it to be quite bad in Kapiti today... Guess its probably still on its way -------------

it is really really bad here, our whole yard is flooded, front and back, I need gummies to get out of the car. We needed to move a fallen tree out of the driveway for rod to go to work, the lights keep fliccking and our toilet is gurgling... ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

Haha Liz that is funny. I am actually worried about my garage I think the doors might of blown in and/or really damaged. It got quite bad here some roofs were lifting, and Transfield have put signs out saying as soon as something happens ring them to get it fixed. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

Part of our fence has blown, it was an iron fence and it has completely come off the wooden rails - but they are now all wonky. The neighbour whose fence it is (with ours) has another part of their fence blown in too, and their house is on the market for sale! ------------- |

Its a state of emergency here now. Houses in my road have been evacuated and the kindy at the end of the street oppiste me (about 15 houses away) is sandbagged and houses around it are evacuated. It is scary. Hubby bought home batteries and I got the candles and matches down, and am crossing my fingers it all calms down very very soon. The wind is scary and the rain is relentless. we lost power  early afternoon and didnt come back on until 12.30am i was up feeding toby complaining about how cold it was and voila! the lights came back on, we cranked up the heatpump (our only form of heating!) man it was cold. ahh, im glad its over, i wasnt prepared at all. had darkness only one torch! lol, used the kids glowbugs and things as torches too.

its bad here, I willpost some photos later on. WE have been lucky so far, only our yard flooded, but if it kicks in again today we wilol not be so lucky I dom't think. The houses over the road are flooded and under water and the street opposite my driveway is at least knee deep the whole way doen, I took some pics, the cars still unlucky enought to be on the road have water over their bumpers, over door level, it is quite high and bloody scary. Still got power, though, but have to be careful with water as raw sewage etc ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |
