We've used a Safe-T-Sleep ever since Eva moved into her cot. DH thinks we should ditch it now that she's 9 months old.

We're sort of in transition now...
A has started to roll over in it and get tangled up, so I put her down a couple of times without it and she went to sleep without fuss. But DP thought we shouldn't ditch it altogether until he has a chance to lower the cot - just in case she manages to pull herself over. So, Ive been putting the sts on really loose and she is going to sleep fine. She has woken a couple of times at night (she doesn't usually) and DP has gone in and straightened her out and she has gone back to sleep. So I'm thinking the transition won't be too bad - I'm really relieved and was preparing for the worst. My friend did it at 10mths and it took 3 weeks - there were some days her DD didn't sleep at all, or fell asleep sitting up in the cot!  ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

| We started using it quite late at around 6-7 months. We ditched it before he turned 1, I don't remember exactly when. We just shoved him in a sleeping bag to restrict his movement a bit and just let him roam the cot. I'd go in every 5-10mins and pop him back where he was meant to be, usually I only had to do that once or twice and he's sleeping fine. Don't need it at night either, though getting rid of it at night we had no probs. He just went to sleep immediately as always and slept better without it |

I haven't had much experience of this myself as we stopped when the boy was quite young, but thought what we do might help to make her feel snug and make it a wee bit harder to move, without having the safety sleep..
We wrap him tightly from the waist down (so he can't get his legs up as easily to move around), and put a sheet really tight over him. We fold the sheet in half length ways and tuck it over his tummy, it can go right under the mattress so it's more firm. Still firm but not as tight as a safety sleep. Harry is really mobile with rolling around everywhere. We still sometimes find him up the top of him cot on his tummy, or wedged widthways lol - but that's more so what he does when he wakes up and can't find his dummy to put in to go back to sleep. We ditched when Ella was around 8 months (I think???). Basically she kept rolling over in it and then she figured how to undo the velco, so i just gave up and let her roam around the cot. She was soooo much happier then and now it works really well because when she wakes up in the morning she is quite happy to play in her cot for a while (normally around 30 mins) before I get up to her. ------------- Mum to Ella (5) and Tom (2) |

Hey Kabe, we are still in the process of trying (and failing) to wean Oli off his. If he is resisting sleep then he will wriggle around like mad and roll himself over in his STS, and getting himself on his tummy and getting stuck. We have tried putting him down without it for day sleeps, and he just will not sleep...he rolls around, plays, trys to take his clothes off...pretty much everything apart from sleeping! If he is really tired then he will just go straight to sleep in his STS and we have no problems. Sorry - dont have any magic answers....good luck though!
