It is apparently lovely but don't know what it's been like since the '06 riots. Samoa is also beautiful and cheap.

I'm a travel agent and even I can't think of anything for Tonga (might have more info at the office). Had some friend that went there for their honeymoon and stayed on an island and loved it...but sorry, no details

Only for about a two hour transit and that was a few years ago. I have been told there is not much there, the previous King syphoned all the funds for his own use and the one or two resorts are pretty run down. Fiji is probably the most kid friendly of the islands.

DH and I went for a weeks holiday about 8 years ago. At the time it was pretty cheap and all we could afford.

It was pretty basic...we stayed at the Royal Sunset Island Resort  (check out http://www.royalsunset.biz - www.royalsunset.biz ) just looked at the photos and it hasnt changed a bit! We did an overnight on the main island before transferring out....where we stayed at the Dateline (which by the looks of things has been done up a LOT as when we were there it was a dive!)

Although we enjoyed it - there isnt a lot to do unless you are really into diving and fishing....dont think it was that kid friendly either. Although some of the resorts up in the Va'vau region are apparently a lot nicer, although again not sure how kid friendly they are.
