If you could wake up one morning and be anything in the world, What would you be?
I would like to be a crime scene invesigator.
Or i would just like to be rich so i can open a school/home for all the abandoned kids like that movie 'Madeline'
Or just enough money to open a safe house for all the brothers and sisters of abused children that have been taken away from their homes.. I would hire all the loveliest poeple and give the kids everything they deserve. Wish i was as rich as Angelina Jolie.

I'd be a multi millionaire and DH and I would start working on having a heap of kids.
One thing I'd love to do if we had enough money is build affordable housing to sell to NZ families like my own that can't afford a mortgage. We would not sell for a profit and there would be rules of sale so that no "rich" people or investors could buy.
If I had enough money so I didn't need to work I'd do more volunteering. I'd like to help out in the homes for pregnant teenagers.
Oh and DH and I want to have a redecorating competition - kind of like dream home - but him vs me. We'd start with the same amount of cash to buy and do up a house and then we'd sell them and the person that sells their house for the most wins.

Crime Scene Investigator for me too - after having been a cop for a while.
I'm delaying the second part of that dream until next year but still working towards the first part at least! (hopefully in 5 years I should be qualified!)

I would build the north canterbury animal rescue centre and I would run a kennels and cattery to cover the costs (or some of the costs) of housing the rescue animals. I would also like to rehabilitate mistreated dogs so that they can be rehomed.

Here they are called either Crime Scene Analysts or Attendants or Scene of Crime Officers...all covers that sort of spectrum.
You need to a complete a science degree with Chemistry and Biochemistry (chemistry for the physical biochem for the DNA side), very occassionally people get through without tese. Then you need to apply for the PostGrad Forensic diploma. If you want to go further into research etc you go onto the Masters in Forensics. Those are at Auckland...not sure what other Uni's offer.
It's a nonsworn police role. I managed to find out some of the finer details as there was a job going recently.

Hrmmm...I'd be completely selfish, unlike most of you!! I would be a fully qualified lawyer with my own practice, who dabbles in renovations on the side - buying rundown houses, renovating them and selling them again. Just cos I love that kind of thing. Either way, I'd have enough money to do whatever I wanted.

I'm kinda selfish too.
I'd love to have enough money to own a nice sized farm with horses and be a teacher.
I'm working my way there. The farm idea won't happen for many many years though

Firstly I'd have to be a millionaire and I would start a retreat for under privileged children where there would be all sorts of activities and outings (like a summer camp) and there would be animals that they could take care of (horses, sheep, chickens, ducks you name it we'll have it)
My DF and I would also like to open a business so he could build and sell his props (he's a prop builder - obviously ) and also run weekend events for the LARPing Community in places that actually look like they belong in that era (1920's etc) rather than just in a local hall done up to look like it...so setting the scene, so to speak... it'd be run like a proper town with general stores, restaurants, hotels etc... even horses and carriages roaming the streets
Ahhhh, luckily dreams are free otherwise that would have cost me an arm and a leg

Yeah you don't get to tramp around crime scenes in flash clothing and high heels or get the results in 5 mins flat!

What she said
My dream job would be (obviously to be rich enough to do it lol) live on a tropical island half of the year and work at the local school. We'd have to be rich enough to come home all the time and/or fly friends and family over otherwise I couldn't do it.
My friends dad flies to Thailand every hols to teach kids over in Phuket. He loved until the big wave came and he became an undertaker rather than a teacher
I'd also love to be a wedding/event planner (for NICE people, not bridezillas etc!) Oh to dream...

I'd love to own a beautiful book store, and DH would run the cafe next to it. Of course, I'd be too busy reading to deal with customers! Or my own MCN store
Realisitically, I'd love to get my wedding/event co-ordination stuff up and going again, was only just starting to make a go of it before I got pregnant and don't have the time or energy to do it at the moment. Too many late nights!

Bethany centre in Grey Lynn is a place for teen/young mums , i stayed there when i was preggers
Dream job ? i have no idea, some job where i could come and go as i pleased and not answer to anyone
And not have to look at teeth !
My friend is studying at Yale (where she got in on a scholarship from NZ , im so proud) to be an archaeologist , which is pretty impressive, and , as part of Yale offering her a place they said they have a tomb in Egypt thats just been uncovered and any work she discovers, wil go under her name . Very cool
I love babies, and pregnancy etc , but i think the novelty of midwifery would wear off soon

The one in Wellington is called House of Grace.
For a couple of years I've been toying with the idea of becoming an antenatal class instructor as a "hobby job" and if I did that I'd also volunteer at House of Grace atm tho I'm already exhausted from all the 'hats' I wear.

MrsMojo, have you seent he childbirth educator course at Aoaki polytech? It is pretty full on to get into - you have to have an offer of potential employment, write essays on your beliefs and knowledge on some birth stuff etc. It is distance learning, I think over 2 years? I am still considering it for next year.

Hmmmm dream job? I wouldn't mind midwifery but am thinking of leaving that for later in life.as the clinical hours alone for the bachelor degree are horrendous!!!.
K so dream job would be one that has minimal hours....maximum pay and makes allowances for my family......ah to dream...if someone knows what this job actually is please let me know

Yep. I looked into it when my AN instructor first suggested I do it. Back then you had to pay your own way but I believe you can now get help from studylink to pay for course fees.
Also apparently the parents centre are crying out for instructors and will help you get into the course if you approach them first (I think you have to promise to work with them for awhile).

yes you do, you need to be employed by them I think and they no longer pay your fees, it has all changed as of july 1st. (Pres of Marlb.PC) You may also be able to do the course if you are employed by a dhb and you have a job as a cbe lined up? Anyhow, they give preference to PC CBE's the course was set up for them.

I'd own a bookstore/cafe .. a little like lizzle's library I spose but selling books and coffee - my two favourite things
If it paid better and there was no paperwork, teaching would be up there for me. That's why it's so much more fun over here than back home .

I love my job, i really do.
however, another thing i'd probably love to persue is photography - that's something i've always loved, and also writing kids books. I did write a few back when i was in my teenage years that i really wish i had held on to.
Mostly though - if i had the money and time - neither of which really have too much of at the mo - I'd get this cuddly business off the ground and fly with it.
