I've never had a topic deleted while I was typing in it before (assuming that was the reason for the sudden disappearance of the thread where we were talking about songs and nursery rhymes )
Sooo ... may as well start a new one what is yours/your child's favourite song/nursery rhyme?
I'm trying to find one that makes No.9 make bubbles I heart bubbles

We make up our own versions of songs a lot. Joshies fave one is sung to the tune of that song that goes "sugar do do do do do oooooh honey honey" except we sing "Joshie, do do do do do ooooh monkey monkey, do do do do do you are mummy's monkey boy and you've got me loving you"....
Get a couple of kiddy music cd's or dvd's - you'll soon be singing along to them word for word

Speaking of kiddy CDs... can't wait for Kimya Dawson's kiddo stuff! (Aye Mel? ) I haaaaaate normal kiddo bands so it'll be great to hear some decent music targeted at junior demons.
If anyone else has suggestions of cool kiddo CDs, I'd love to hear 'em!

Incy Wincy is one of Maddis favourite, we made up our own actions which involves a lot of tickling
Twinkle Twinkle is the only song that would ever get Keira to sleep- it did get rather annoying after singning it through 20 times 2am in the morning though.

My mum seems to teach Alyssa most of the ones she knows...it seems weird to me to hear my little girl singing "See Saw Margery Daw"...what the heck is a margery daw?!
Kind of on topic...mum was telling me Alyssa was learning a new one....so mum started saying "eeny meeny miny moe, catch a n****....." and before she could go any further I gasped and said "OMG You can't teach her that version!!!!!!". Of course that's the one I learned in the school playground growing up, but my mum had no idea that this had changed long ago to "tiger" and that it was totally inappropriate to be using the old one.. oh dear. Thank goodness she hadn't learnt that one yet!

We like twinkle twinkle too. But most nursery rhymes i seem to have avoided teaching
When it's bathtime we sing "put your hands up in the air" - that techno song, and "shake your bootie" - for getting pants off.
Then it's 'STOP, pajama time " - (stop, hammer time)
I'm so lame

Actually one I thought of an hour or two ago was ...
I'm a little hunk of tin
Nobody knows what shape I'm in
I got 4 wheels and a running board
I aint no chevy and I aint no ford
honk honk rattle rattle rattle crash beep beep
(obviously with the hand gestures for honking, rattling and beep beeping )

Michaela's favourite used to be hush little baby (but with my own lyrics because really, what modern girl wants a goat or a cart). Here's our version, it starts off the same and then I deviated.
Hush little baby don't say a word mummy's going to buy you a mocking bird
and if that mocking bird won't sing mummy's going to buy you a diamond ring
and if that diamond ring is brass mummy's going to buy you a looking glass
and if that looking glass is broke mummy's going by you a great big boat
and if that great big boat is sunk mummy's going to buy you an elephant
and if that elephants too fat mummy's going to buy you a pussy cat
and if that pussy cat won't meow mummy's going to buy you a milking cow
and if that milking cow drys up mummy's going to buy you a big mack truck
and if that big mack truck breaks down you'll still be the sweetest baby around.
and this is why I'm a working mum... so I can afford to buy all that stuff

Michaela also loves a bicycle made for two. I also have extra lyrics for this song
*sings*
daisy daisy give me your answer true
I'm 1/2 crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
but you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle made for two
(plus the extra verse taught to me by my mum)
Henry Henry this is my answer true
you must be crazy to think I would marry you.
If you can't afford a carriage
there won't be any marriage.
I'd rather be dead than to be wed on a bicycle made for two.

I have a nursary rhyme book, I need to crank it out sometime...
When Phoenix was a little baby he used to love "Phoenix is the king of the castle! And Daddy's the dirty rascal!!!". He would crack up everytime.
When he's with me "Row, row your boat" is his fav, and with Daddy it's "Twinkle, twinkle little star".
But, he goes crazy over the Pamol baby advert "I love you babyyyy...."
Also, he likes "Two little dickey birds sitting on a wall..."

Ran around the country,
Tripped on a toadstool,
Fell into a rockpool.
What colour were the crabs,
Red, white, or blue?
My tummy says it must be you,

oh Sienna loves a song that they sing in daycare and Noah & Lola love it to, it goes
Spring time in Africa
Walking along
I saw 4 Gorrilas (you can use as many as you want to sing about)
Singing this song
AAAHHHHHH (hands thumping chest while doing this)
Boom chucka lucka
Boom chucka lucka (while patting your knees once then 2 claps)
Ooh ooh ooh (gorilla noise while scratching under your armpits like a gorilla)
then just repeat till there is no gorillas left
We also like twinkle, twinkle, the wheels on the bus, miss molly had a dolly, old McDonald
